Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Surgery Procedure Coordinator, you will be a central pivot, orchestrating seamless and efficient surgical procedures while ensuring comprehensive patient support.
Every day, you will meticulously coordinate schedules for physicians, ORs, anesthesiologists, equipment, and staff per physician recommendations. You'll act as a critical liaison, communicating with all parties, distributing pre/post-op information, and expertly managing financial/insurance details to secure prior authorizations.
To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of surgical workflows. Your ability to anticipate needs and provide proactive support will be paramount.
- Schedules all surgeries and/or procedures for patient admissions/appointments maximizing allocated spaces.
- Works in conjunction with physician and/or staff to prioritize admissions/appointments and maximize allocated space based on medical needs.
- Validates and captures primary, secondary and tertiary insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing.Identifies patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services.Identifies services not covered by the insurance plan or requiring prior authorization; informing patients ofcourses of action as appropriate.
- Coordinates services and provides special instructions as requested by patients, internal physicians and referring physicians, i.e. Post Op Bracing orders and Home Health.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- One year prior front office or clerical experience.Basic Computer skills, Outlook, window-based programs.
- Ability to organize work so that productivity and effectiveness are maximized.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectivelycommunicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handlemultiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- One year surgical scheduling.
- Electronic Medical Record EMR experience.
- Cerner experience
