Overview
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA/L) implements treatment plans established by the OTR/L and physician in a professional, competent manner. Key responsibilities include screening residents quarterly to identify functional declines, carrying out treatment programs according to the plan of care, identifying treatment plan modifications, monitoring and reporting resident performance, assisting with patient re-assessment, supervising Rehab Therapy Aides, educating staff and families, identifying equipment needs, and completing required documentation. The role requires an associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program, active state license, and knowledge of AOTA code of ethics. Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential, along with annual TB testing.
