Our Commercial Credit team plays a critical role in enabling business customers to grow — balancing strong risk judgement with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.

We’re looking for a Senior Credit Assessor, Commercial to join our high-performing and collaborative team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of assessing complex commercial lending applications, making sound credit decisions within your delegated authority, and working closely with brokers and stakeholders to structure the right outcomes. You’ll also support and mentor others while contributing to continuous improvement across the team.


This is a permanent role based in Sydney.

What you’ll do

  • Assess and decision commercial lending applications and variations, including complex structures, within your delegated lending authority.
  • Analyse financial statements, cash flow, security structures and risk factors to make informed, balanced credit decisions.
  • Structure and repackage deals where needed to meet both customer needs and risk appetite.
  • Manage your own pipeline of applications, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes aligned to service levels.
  • Engage with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders to communicate decisions, provide clear rationale and manage expectations.
  • Support and mentor junior Credit Assessors, sharing knowledge and contributing to capability uplift across the team.
  • Facilitate group coaching sessions
  • Identify opportunities for realignment of credit policy to support a more efficient process and improved customer experience.
  • Collection & sharing of data (with Manager) held on decline overturns/scenario/BDM queries to support process reviews and identify training gaps/opportunities.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in commercial credit assessment within financial services, with exposure to complex lending scenarios.
  • Demonstrated Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) in commercial lending and confidence making autonomous credit decisions.
  • Solid understanding of commercial lending principles including financial analysis, cash flow modelling and risk assessment.
  • Ability to interpret business financials and identify key risks, mitigants and structuring opportunities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility with brokers and internal partners.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to balance customer outcomes and risk discipline.
