- Professional Kitchen & Floor Care: Perform thorough cleaning of kitchen floors, including sweeping, foaming with a foam gun, scrubbing with a deck brush, safely hosing, and drying using squeegees, mops, or wet vacuums.
- Safe Hosing Practices: Execute proper hosing techniques (maintaining a 3" to 6" floor clearance and hosing under rather than at appliances) while strictly avoiding electrical outlets to prevent water damage.
- Heavy Equipment Cleaning: Degrease and deep-clean commercial kitchen equipment, including hoods, pizza ovens, grills, fryers, ranges, steamers, and kettles.
- Appliance Detailing: Scrape grills and fryers using metal brushes (ensuring gas is off), wipe down equipment interiors and exteriors, and polish all stainless steel fixtures and hoods with oil-based cleaners.
- Wheeled Equipment Handling: Carefully pull out appliances on wheels to clean behind, under, and around them, taking care not to damage drain pipes, gas lines, or wiring.
- PPE Compliance: Consistently wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment, including slip-resistant boots (during kitchen work and hosing), heavy-duty gloves (for degreasing), and protective eyewear (for high dusting, pressure washing, or overhead chemical use).
- Workplace Safety: Secure work areas with appropriate safety signs (e.g., WET FLOOR) and strictly follow all safety and infection control practices, including proper hand-washing techniques.
- Facility Organization: Keep hallways and pathways clear of carts and tools, never leave cleaning carts unattended, and ensure custodial closets remain locked at all times.
- End-of-Shift Duties: Manage waste disposal by taking trash to assigned areas, and ensure all cleaning tools and equipment are left clean and ready for the next shift.
- Communication & Reporting: Promptly report any safety hazards, equipment damage, or maintenance needs to your supervisor.
- Department Standards: Perform all work as directed in a professional manner, maintaining strict confidentiality according to policy and upholding the highest integrity of the Custodial Department.
