LEAD CIVIL & STRUCTURAL DESIGNER

We are seeking an experienced Lead Civil & Structural Designer to lead civil and structural design activities for major EPC oil & gas projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality civil and structural design deliverables from FEED through Detailed Engineering, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, company procedures, and project schedules. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in onshore industrial facilities and will lead a team of designers while coordinating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure accurate and efficient project execution.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and supervise Civil & Structural design activities throughout FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
• Coordinate and manage a team of Civil & Structural Designers to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
• Prepare, review, and check civil and structural design drawings, layouts, and 3D models.
• Develop and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings, foundation layouts, grading plans, underground utility layouts, road layouts, drainage systems, and plot plans.
• Prepare and review structural steel layouts, framing plans, platform layouts, pipe rack structures, equipment support structures, access platforms, stairways, ladders, and handrails.
• Coordinate with Civil & Structural Engineers to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in project deliverables.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and clash detection activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, project specifications, company standards, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces with Process, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Pipeline, HVAC, and Architectural disciplines.
• Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved vendor information into project design documents.
• Support material take-offs (MTO), quantity verification, and preparation of design deliverables.
• Monitor design progress and ensure all deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers.
• Ensure effective implementation of design changes, revisions, and document control procedures.
• Participate in site visits and provide engineering support during construction as required.
• Maintain compliance with HSE requirements and quality management procedures throughout the design process.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant certifications in CAD or 3D design software are an advantage.
• Minimum 12–15 years of Civil & Structural design experience within EPC oil & gas projects.
• At least 5 years in a Lead Civil & Structural Designer role.
• Strong experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering.
• Experience working on large-scale onshore oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or energy projects.
• Middle East project experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Smart 3D (S3D), SP3D, MicroStation, Navisworks, and Autodesk Civil 3D (as applicable).
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel detailing.
• Experience preparing: General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Foundation drawings, Structural steel fabrication drawings, Pipe rack layouts, Equipment foundation layouts, Underground utility drawings, Drainage and grading layouts, Road and paving layouts, Access platforms, stairways, ladders, and handrails
• Familiarity with 3D model development and interdisciplinary model coordination.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, material specifications, and drafting practices.
• Understanding of international codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, ASTM, ASCE, BS, and Eurocodes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience supporting procurement, construction, and site engineering activities through design clarifications and technical support.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality Civil & Structural design packages within schedule and budget.
