What You'll Be Doing
- As an R&D Physicist, you will research, develop, and optimize the physical phenomena behind HP Indigo’s LEP technology and future printing platforms.
- You will work closely with researchers and engineers across multiple disciplines to transform scientific concepts into innovative, manufacturable, and commercially successful products while supporting advanced technology development and complex technical problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead scientific research in areas such as electrophotography, electrostatics, optics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and materials interactions.
- Develop and validate new technology concepts and printing processes.
- Design and execute experiments, analyze results, and build predictive models.
- Drive technology maturation from concept to product implementation.
- Investigate complex performance, quality, and reliability issues using rigorous scientific methods.
- Generate intellectual property, patents, and innovative technical solutions.
- Collaborate across hardware, process, materials, and software disciplines.
Required Qualifications
Education
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electro-Optics, Materials Physics, or a related field.
Experience
- 5+ years of applied scientific research in a multidisciplinary R&D environment (Senior Physicist level).
- Proven experience leading experimental research and solving complex technical challenges.
- Track record of driving innovation and technology development.
Technical Expertise
Experience in one or more of the following:
- Electrophotography and electrostatics
- Optics and imaging
- Fluid dynamics and heat transfer
- Materials and surface science
- High-voltage systems
- Sensors and measurement techniques
- Modeling, simulation, and statistical analysis
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and scientific thinking
- Creative and data-driven problem solving
- Experimental design and execution
- MATLAB, Python, JMP or similar analytical tools
- Effective technical communication and presentation skills
- Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams
