1. Analytics & Dashboarding - 50%
Conducts the design and development of interactive dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical views to meet defined business needs.
Researches reporting requirements with business stakeholders and contributes to aligning dashboards to agreed KPI definitions and business rules.
Creates business-friendly visualizations for operational, financial, and executive reporting.
Builds dashboards for insurance KPIs such as: Written premium, Earned premium, In-force premium, Loss ratio, Combined ratio, Claims frequency, Claims severity, Quote-to-bind ratio, Renewal ratio, Policy retention, Producer/agency performance, Commission trends.
Analyzes data from insurance systems related to: Policy administration, Underwriting, Quotes and submissions, Claims, Billing, Commissions, Reinsurance, Agency/broker performance, Customer retention, etc.
Develops enhanced user experience features including drill-down, drill-through, slicers/filters, bookmarks, tooltips, and KPI cards.
Publishes reports and tracks workspace configuration, refresh schedules, and access controls; escalates issues and risks as needed.
2. Data Analysis & Insight Generation - 25%
Conducts data analysis to identify patterns, trends, variances, and actionable insights for business partners.
Reviews business questions and translates them into analytical outputs (dashboards, KPI scorecards, and ad hoc analyses) using established approaches.
Creates executive summaries and data-driven recommendations based on dashboard findings; contributes to stakeholder readouts and recurring performance reviews.
Supports business teams in interpreting dashboard results and making informed decisions; provides guidance on metric definitions and appropriate usage.
Performs root-cause analysis for issues such as declining retention, increasing loss ratios, premium leakage, or claims delays, and proposes follow-up analyses to confirm drivers.
3. Data Modeling & Transformation - 15%
Builds and maintains data models using star schema / dimensional modeling principles and established internal standards.
Develops calculated measures and KPIs using DAX; reviews and refines existing measures for accuracy and reusability.
Uses Power Query / M language for data cleaning, transformation, and shaping; documents key assumptions and transformation logic.
Works with structured and semi-structured data from:
SQL databases, data warehouses
Excel/CSV files
APIs and cloud platforms
Insurance policy and claims systems
Collaborates with data engineering teams to validate source data, curated datasets, and data pipelines; contributes to requirements and testing for new or updated data feeds.

4. Quality, Governance & Performance - 10%
Validates reports against source systems and business rules; tracks reconciliation results and data quality findings.
Ensures accuracy, consistency, and reliability of reported metrics; supports standardization of KPI definitions and report templates.
Optimizes report performance, dataset refresh time, and DAX calculations; proposes improvements when performance issues are identified.
Implements row-level security and access controls following established governance practices.
Maintains reusable datasets and standardized reporting components; supports adoption of certified datasets where applicable.
Supports production issue analysis, defect fixes, and enhancement requests; participates in release testing and post-deployment validation.
