In this position...

The Category Implementation Buyer is responsible for the strategic sourcing, business development, and supply continuity activities that are critical to achieving the Ford+ plan by improving bottom-line automotive operations and securing Ford Motor Company's position in the evolving automotive landscape.

As the Buyer for Transmission Clutch Modules, you will lead sourcing activities and supplier strategy for the commodity, ensuring the right supply partner delivers the best product at the right cost, with outstanding quality and on-time performance. You'll collaborate closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), MP&L, Finance, and the Global Commodity Team to drive sourcing decisions, manage supplier performance, and support successful vehicle launches.

What you'll do...

  • Lead sourcing and commercial negotiations for Transmission Clutch Modules, delivering competitive cost, quality, delivery, and risk outcomes.
  • Develop and execute supplier and sourcing strategies that support program launches, cost objectives, and long-term business goals.
  • Partner with Product Development, Manufacturing, STA, MP&L, Finance, and the Global Commodity Team to drive sourcing decisions and resolve supplier-related issues.
  • Manage supplier relationships through commercial negotiations, QCDR reviews, Total Value Management (TVM) initiatives, and performance accountability.
  • Support supply continuity by mitigating supplier risks, resolving commercial issues, and identifying alternative sourcing or technology solutions when needed.
  • Develop commodity cost roadmaps and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership on sourcing strategies and commercial settlements.
  • Champion continuous improvement by enhancing procurement processes, strengthening supplier performance, and supporting organizational objectives.
  • Travel as needed to support supplier engagements and business requirements.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years of procurement experience, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • 3+ years of experience with manufactured commodities and manufacturing processes.

  • Master's degree.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with transmission components, clutch systems, or other powertrain commodities.
  • Knowledge of supplier cost modeling, Total Value Management (TVM), and automotive sourcing processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and procurement systems.
  • Experience presenting sourcing strategies and business recommendations to senior leadership.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
