Role Summary

The Safety Compliance and Support Manager is a subject matter expert in safety and compliance programs at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgement to make decisions in performance and attendance standards in collaboration with the local leadership team. This role will educate, communicate and drive safety and compliance to Company policy as well as government, state, and local authority regulations.

Key Duties

  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgement to make decisions in evaluating station performance data to determine compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations. 
  • Manage execution of investigating irregularity reports, safety concerns, and compliance issues. 
  • Analyze investigation data to resolve issues as well as develop solutions for future prevention.  
  • Make recommendations to guide station compliance and coordinate with workgroups to ensure operational, administrative, and compliance goals are being continually tracked and achieved.  
  • Manage execution of preliminary reviews of root cause and corrective action plans for station audit findings, assess accuracy of root cause and robustness of corrective actions, and develop innovative solutions to address complex regulatory/policy and procedural concerns.  
  • Communicate frequently and administers corporate policies and goals to assigned personnel to ensure continued understanding of Alaska Airlines commitment to safety and compliance. 
  • Network with outside regulatory agencies to build and nourish relationships, reducing safety and security risk and liability for Alaska Airlines.  

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of experience in station operations or related area.   
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree. 
  • Proven skills in passenger service or station operations including cargo handling, ground operations, personnel administration, scheduling shift work, administering bargaining unit employees or budget control.  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that drive outcomes in the best interest of the company, with others in the organization, and key external business partners. 
  • Strong track record effectively managing teams and experience developing and mentoring employees through engagement. 
  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, with advanced Excel skills). 
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.  
  • Minimum age of 18. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

Preferred 

  • Knowledge of Alaska Airlines System Regulations and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) policies and procedures. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Sabre/Image applications.

Salary Range

$99,850 -- $149,800 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
