The Unit:

We offer the opportunity to contribute to one of the best interventional stroke and trauma programs in Western PA. Our state-of-the-art facility boasts a one hundred-million-dollar investment in our four interventional labs, five CTs, four MRIs, fluoroscopy, general x-ray, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. As a Radiology RN, you will provide professional nursing care in a perioperative setting, circulating during invasive procedures and providing moderate sedation. You'll collaborate closely with radiologists and technologists in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, specializing in neurointervention (including embolic stroke, arterial occlusion, tumor treatments, vascular access device insertion, biopsies, arterial and venous embolization/thrombectomy, and TIPS). This role requires meticulous attention to detail and sterile technique, similar to an OR setting.

Core Clinical Skills:

• Assessment: Comprehensive physical and physiological monitoring, interpretation of findings.

• Medication Management: Administration (all routes), knowledge of effects/interactions, accurate calculations.

• Respiratory Support: Airway management, ventilator management, oxygen therapy.

• Cardiovascular Support: ECG interpretation, management of vasoactive drugs, hemodynamic monitoring.

• Invasive Line Management: Insertion of peripheral IV and maintenance of central lines and arterial lines

• Infection Control: Strict adherence to protocols.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role provides nursing care to the patient undergoing Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology procedures. Collaborates with the patient and physician to provide care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts pre-procedural assessment. 

• Participates in the care of patients undergoing Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology procedures. 

• Provides proper documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards and requirements

• Maintains a safe environment for patients during their Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology procedures

• Monitors the surgical environment to ensure that aseptic technique is followed by the surgical team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• 1st preference to employee on current night schedule on unit

• Minimum one year recent Critical Care or Radiology RN experience

• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

• CPR – American Heart Association

• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
