Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and docketing support to the Firm's Intellectual Property (IP) team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and docketing support on all IP matters within the Cayman Islands and internationally;
- With great care and attention to detail, docket deadlines, input and maintain data, and create new matters within our IP database, Metastorm and Aderant in accordance with internal best practices;
- Prepare, file and manage the full range of IP applications before the Cayman Islands Intellectual Property Office and internationally via our network of agents;
- Arrange payment of annual fees via CORIS and report payments to clients;
- Draft communications to clients, IP offices and other IP professionals and report on IP filing, publication, use, registration, renewal, maintenance and chain of title updates after meticulous checking of the details;
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of docket reports, annual fee reports and receipts, certificates and other client communications;
- Check and process WIP and disbursements and prepare and send invoices to clients;
- Maintain IP fee spreadsheets for various types of IP prosecution work and prepare client quotations;
- Conduct IP audits and IP searches;
- Develop and maintain good relations with clients, IP offices and other IP professionals;
- Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with the firm's established processes and procedures.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Intellectual Property and with sound experience of IP docketing, annual fee maintenance and case management;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and positive problem solving approach;
- Able to demonstrate the willingness and ability to go the extra mile;
- Excellent time management skills and organizational skills with experience in working to tight reporting deadlines and meeting demanding client obligations;
- Ability to ensure self-development to remain current in the Intellectual Property environment;
- Experience using the following software is advantageous: Aderant, iManage, Metastorm, CORIS and Patricia;
- A high level of proficiency with IT business software packages, including all Microsoft applications and Aderant.
