SUMMARY

Responsible for ongoing maintenance, repairs, and calibration of equipment used in both acute and chronic hemodialysis units and monitoring of associated water systems.

STATUS: Full-Time

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes personal protection equipment and work practice controls to prevent/minimize occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials and teaches same.
  • On-call required.
  • Prepares and tests bicarbonate and acid concentrate for hemodialysis as needed. Accurately documents activities in established unit records.
  • Repairs and performs all preventative maintenance including calibration testing, disinfecting, and cleaning of hemodialysis systems.
  • Accurately documents this activity in established unit records.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and monitoring on all water treatment systems, both portable and central. This includes culturing, membrane washing, disinfecting, rinsing, and central loop disinfecting. Documents activities in established unit records.
  • Meets with outside service representatives and objectively compares various manufacturers' products as requested by the Chief Dialysis Technician.
  • Orders parts for water system and hemodialysis equipment as necessary.
    Collection and documentation of data for technical quality assurance program.
  • Review all technical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Implements/oversees corrective measures under the direction of the Chief Technician.
  • Effectively communicates and consults with medical and professional staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely utilizes knowledge of bio-medical designs and electronics.
  • Objectively compares various manufacturers’ products as requested by the Chief Dialysis Technician.
  • Provides in-services to staff regarding technical aspects of the dialysis unit as requested by the Chief Dialysis Technician. Explains theory of use and demonstrates correct operation of various types of dialysis equipment.
  • Trains and ensures competency of technical staff at all dialysis service sites.
  • Provides in-services/training to New Hires for repairs and preventative maintenance including troubleshooting, calibration testing, disinfecting, and cleaning of hemodialysis systems.
  • Assumes responsibility, along with the Chief Technician, for meeting all unit and regulatory standards for the technical aspects of acute and chronic hemodialysis for RRH dialysis services. Review all technical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Responsible to review documentation errors/omissions with technical staff. Tracks documentation performance of technical staff, and reports to Chief Technician.
  • Implements/oversees corrective measures under the direction of the Chief Technician.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
