Description

We are looking for an experienced Regional Corporate Counsel for a global shipping client. This role will support complex corporate financing transactions, strategic investments, asset acquisitions and disposals, and cross-border commercial projects across APAC. You will also draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, advise on corporate governance, financing, procurement, technology, intellectual property, real estate, and other general corporate legal matters, while partnering closely with regional business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of PQE, with a strong background in heavy-asset M&A (preferred) or financing transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide legal support on corporate financing, strategic investments, asset acquisitions and disposals, and other complex commercial transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and transaction documents.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on corporate governance, financing, procurement, technology, intellectual property, real estate, and regulatory matters.
  • Support regional business initiatives, including cross-border projects, joint ventures, and M&A activities across APAC.
  • Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks while providing practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Manage external counsel where required and ensure legal compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support business growth and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with 10+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Strong experience in corporate M&A, financing transactions, or other complex commercial transactions, preferably involving capital-intensive or asset-heavy industries.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Familiarity with cross-border transactions and advising regional stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
  • Prior in-house experience within a multinational corporation is advantageous but not essential.
