OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Technical Project Specialist - Water is responsible for the national oversight of preventive and corrective maintenance of water treatment systems, ensuring optimal system performance, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.

The role serves as the central technical authority and coordination lead for all water treatment–related concerns, providing expert guidance, issue resolution, and alignment across regions and stakeholders.

The position is also accountable for developing, reviewing, and enforcing policies, standards, and SOPs to ensure consistent, safe, and high-quality water system operations nationwide.

In addition, the Water Solutions Supervisor functions as the project lead for water and waste solutions, driving the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects in alignment with organizational, clinical, and operational requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Planning and Preventive Maintenance Management

  • Develops and maintains annual and monthly preventive maintenance (PM) plans and targets for water treatment systems, ensuring ≥95% completion rate.
  • Establishes standard maintenance protocols, checklists, and schedules aligned with regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
  • Oversees execution of PM and ensures timely closure of findings and corrective actions.

2. Technical Project Planning and Execution

  • Prepares detailed technical project proposals and system design outlines for water treatment systems (e.g., RO systems, distribution loops).
  • Leads end-to-end project management, including site inspections, feasibility studies, scope definition, and risk assessment.
  • Develops and monitors project schedules, timelines, and Gantt charts, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Acts as the Project Lead for all water-related products and initiatives, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and technical standards.

3. Installation, Commissioning, and Integration

  • Leads and supervises installation, testing, and commissioning activities for water treatment systems and related infrastructure.
  • Ensures system performance validation, compliance with operational specifications, and readiness for clinical/operational use.
  • Supports the integration of water systems with dialysis equipment, ensuring system compatibility and operational efficiency.

4. Corrective Maintenance and Technical Oversight

  • Provides expert guidance in diagnosing and resolving system failures, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Reviews and approves corrective and preventive maintenance activities, ensuring root cause analysis and sustainable solutions.
  • Establishes escalation protocols for critical system issues.

5. Stakeholder Coordination and Regional Alignment

  • Coordinates with the AP Regional Water Solutions Team to align on standards, best practices, and technical updates.
  • Maintains comprehensive project documentation and centralized project folders for audit and reference.
  • Collaborates with clinical, operations, and facility teams to ensure system reliability and compliance.

6. Materials, Procurement, and Vendor Management

  • Prepares detailed bill of materials (BOM), equipment specifications, and cost estimates for all water-related projects.
  • Manages and monitors service provider contracts and vendor performance, ensuring SLA compliance.
  • Supports procurement and marketing teams in product evaluation, technical validation, and supplier selection.

7. Training, Presentation, and Knowledge Transfer

  • Conducts technical presentations and project briefings for stakeholders and management.
  • Provides user training and competency development programs on water treatment systems for operational staff.
  • Develops training materials, SOPs, and user manuals to support standardization.

8. Quality, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensures all water systems comply with regulatory standards, safety requirements, and internal policies.
  • Implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Participates in internal and external audits, ensuring documentation readiness and compliance.

9. Leadership and Team Contribution

  • Serves as a technical leader and role model, promoting professionalism, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
  • Provides mentorship and technical coaching to engineers and technicians.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork, adaptability, and responsiveness to operational needs.

10. Other Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support organizational goals and operational requirements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent)

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in water treatment systems (e.g., Reverse Osmosis, water distribution systems)
  • Biomedical, healthcare or industrial plant operations
  • Preferably with experience in supervisory or leadership role
  • Proven experience in preventive and corrective maintenance management
  • Project implementation (installation, commissioning, and integration)
  • Vendor/service provider coordination and contract management

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Water treatment system design, operation, and troubleshooting
    • Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, disinfection processes, and water quality standards
    • Preventive maintenance systems and reliability engineering
  • Ability to:
    • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
    • Develop SOP’s, policies, and technical documentation aligned with standards
  • Familiarity with:
    • Healthcare standards (e.g., dialysis-related water quality requirements)
    • Safety, regulatory, and compliance frameworks
  • Project Management Skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously on a national scale
    • Experience in project planning, scheduling (Gantt charts), budgeting, and execution

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to coordinate across operations, clinical teams, vendors and regional counterparts

Systems Proficiency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point)
  • AutoCAD
