Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-minded NETA/NICET Level III Certified Technician to lead field testing, commissioning, and diagnostic services for low, medium, and high-voltage electrical power distribution systems. In this role, you will act as the on-site project lead, managing complex testing assignments in critical environments—including data centers, commercial infrastructure, and industrial substations—across the DMV region.


Key Responsibilities

  • Field Testing & Commissioning: Perform visual, mechanical, and electrical testing on switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers (molded case, insulated case, air, vacuum), protective relays, instrument transformers, and switchboards per NETA ATS/MTS standards.
  • Project Leadership: Act as the Lead Technician on-site project lead, managing complex testing assignments in critical environments—including data centers, commercial infrastructure, and industrial substations—across the DMV region.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Investigate electrical faults, analyze test data, and deliver clear, actionable technical reports or recommendations to clients.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety guidelines. Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Client Relations: Interface directly with project managers, facility engineers, and clients to explain testing outcomes and project timelines.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Certification: Current, active NETA Level III (or higher) Technician certification is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical power testing and maintenance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven capability in testing protective relays (electro-mechanical and solid-state), insulation resistance, power factor (Dobble), and primary/secondary injection.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying environment types. Must be willing to participate in a rotational night/weekend on-call schedule for emergency services.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for company vehicle operation).
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening for access to secure client sites (data centers, federal facilities).
