Description

At Urban Utilities, our purpose is simple yet powerful – Enrich Quality of Life. With a $7 billion asset base and services spanning 1.6 million residents and more than 31,000 commercial customers across South East Queensland, we are committed to enhancing the liveability of our communities every day.

Your Opportunity

We’re looking for a Project Manager to plan and deliver the sewer treatment plant (STP) maintenance program across our treatment plants, working with our internal stakeholders and key maintenance delivery partners. Urban Utilities services 1.6 million people across Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset, and our treatment plants sit at the centre of that.

Your success in this role will be maintenance programs that run to schedule, defects that get closed out before they become risks, and a level of oversight that gives leadership genuine confidence in our maintenance position. You will also have the opportunity to manage some minor capital projects and programs.

You’ll sit within Maintenance Services, part of the Operations & Maintenance group, working alongside Operations, Facilities, Asset Management, Health and Safety and Capital Delivery. Reporting to the Maintenance Program Leader, you’ll be a key point of escalation for STP performance, contributing directly to the safe and reliable operation of the infrastructure our communities depend on.

What You’ll Deliver

  • Oversee delivery of STP maintenance by our delivery partners, ensuring compliance with processes, KPIs and standards.
  • Monitor maintenance schedules, deliverables and defect rectification, acting as the point of escalation for issue resolution.
  • Lean in, where required, to support the STPs with special activities (e.g. yearly CAMBI shut down).
  • Track program performance, budget and expenditure, reporting on trends, risks and improvement opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Apply assurance and audit frameworks to maintenance activity, identifying non-conformances and driving corrective action with the delivery partner.

About You

  • At least 3 years’ project or program management experience, with knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated industry, with an understanding of statutory obligations.
  • Degree in project management or equivalent demonstrated experience delivering projects or programs on time and to budget.
  • A systematic approach to risk and a genuine commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Experience managing contracted service providers, including performance monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Comfortable working with and maintaining strong relationships across a broad stakeholder group, including Operations, Asset Management, Health and Safety and Capital Delivery.

At Urban Utilities, we believe our workforce should reflect the community we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, emergency responders and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

You might not meet every single requirement listed. If you are excited about the role and believe you can make a strong contribution, we encourage you to apply.

If you require adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.
