An opportunity for a HO Production Quality Space has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role holder will be responsible for:
- Leading the Production Quality Department at the Space Systems plant in Getafe.
- Leading, motivating, and developing (training, behaviors, etc.) a team of approx. 25 people, covering Quality Assurance, Quality Inspection, and Quality Conformity activities.
- Establishing clear team objectives aligned with corporate goals.
- Sitting on the plant management committee and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, with Quality serving as a key stakeholder.
- Acting as the primary focal point for Production Quality across other business areas and stakeholders.
- Managing an annual budget of €3.5M (Project / PIND hours).
- Reporting functionally to the Head of Space Systems Production Quality and operationally to the Head of the Space Plant in Getafe.
- Preparing the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and the overall Production Quality budget.
- Drafting executive summaries and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Harmonizing activities and best practices across all Space Systems plants.
- Holding direct responsibility for deliveries to internal customers (Airbus Spacecraft facilities in the UK, France, and Germany) and external customers (Avio, Mitsubishi, SpaceX, ArianeGroup, etc.).
- Managing a high-complexity environment across 8 production areas (Composites, Ariane 6 pulse line, Machining, Laser Metrology, Assembly, Satellite Integration and Testing [AIT], and Launcher Assembly).
- Driving the quality department forward and establishing a clear purpose through the Space Transformation Plan (Turnaround Project).
- Promoting a preventive quality culture within production and AIT teams, ensuring the implementation of quality processes (Non-Conformance Management, Root Cause Analysis, PPS, NRB, quality authorizations, operational oversight, etc.).
- Ensuring production quality documentation (Quality Assurance Plan, Control Plan, inspection reports, etc.) across all projects.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to reduce quality costs (such as inspection optimization/reduction and sampling strategies).
- Ensuring product certification and compliance through measurements in accordance with Inspection Records.
- Directing and managing the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team.
- Ensuring the proper execution of receiving inspections for incoming materials and components.
- Supporting internal and external audits (e.g., EN 9100).

- Previous experience within a Quality department or working in close collaboration with Quality teams.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and change management skills.
- Results-driven and goal-oriented mindset.
- Minimum 2 years of prior experience in team management.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
