Description

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Compliance Analyst within Christie’s Compliance team. This position, based in London, will have responsibility for supporting the Compliance function within the UK, Europe and Middle East region. The role will suit a dynamic analyst who is looking for a varied and challenging experience, working closely with multiple departments across the business, in an increasingly process-driven environment.  You must have strong technical expertise, the ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders, exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Advising the EMEA business on client due diligence (CDD) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements for all types of client. Acting as subject matter expert on identity verification, beneficial ownership, and source of funds/wealth checks.
  • Conducting pre and post sale reviews of auction and private sales clients, completing client risk assessments and conducting enhanced due diligence where appropriate.
  • Screening clients for PEP and Sanctions status using commercial screening tools, escalating matches appropriately, and suggesting enhancements to screening methodology.
  • Assisting with preparation of AML business risk assessments and routine regulator filings.
  • Assisting with drafting and updating internal guidance documents, FAQs, and workflow charts for business users. Actively seeking opportunities to embed processes and increase awareness.
  • Assisting with preparation and delivery of internal compliance training sessions (e.g. AML, sanctions, suspicious activity reporting) and ensuring appropriate training records are kept.
  • Participation in testing, rollout, and refinement of compliance-related systems (such as screening tools, case management platforms, and digital client onboarding portals) and compliance content within Christie’s CRM system.
  • Preparing data and documentation for internal audits, compliance reviews and other projects.  Assisting with regulatory inspections and responses to ad hoc law enforcement requests.
  • Supporting internal investigations relating to potential breaches or suspicious activity, and preparing disclosures (e.g. suspicious activity reports) for review
  • Assisting in the monitoring of regulatory developments concerning financial and trade sanctions and new AML legislation.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and generally helping to foster a strong culture of compliance, ethics, and professional conduct throughout the business by acting as a point of contact for frontline teams and championing best practices.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Technical excellence: relevant knowledge of AML regulation, client due diligence requirements, and sanctions, combined with practical experience of applying that knowledge to day to day business scenarios.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Teamwork: the ability to confidently work collaboratively across all levels of the business, developing productive internal relationships.
  • Confident decision making: the ability to make decisions in a balanced way, taking account of all relevant legal and regulatory matters and the needs of the business, and being accountable for such decisions.
  • Highly organised and detail orientated, with strong and effective time management skills.
  • Discreet and professional at all times, operating ethically with a high level of integrity.
  • Information sharing: ensuring others have the information they need to do their jobs effectively.
  • Willing to travel and work extended business hours during certain sales
  • Foreign Language skills can be helpful (though not essential) to the role.
