Location: Mequon, WI with once a week travel to West Allis

About the Position
Madison Medical is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Dermatology team in Mequon, WI.
The Medical Assistant plays an important role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the Dermatologist and clinical team with a wide range of clinical and administrative responsibilities. This position is actively involved in dermatologic procedures, patient education, rooming, treatments, medication management, and care coordination.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, confident in a clinical setting, and committed to providing an exceptional patient experience. This position is based in Mequon, WI, with travel to our West Allis location approximately once per week.

What You'll Do
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain brief medical histories, and collect vital signs as needed.
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer local anesthesia prior to skin procedures, as appropriate and within scope of practice.
- Perform dermatology-specific procedures, including skin tag removal, photodynamic therapy, and other treatments as directed.
- Perform phototherapy treatments under the direction of the dermatologist.
- Assist the dermatologist with dermatologic procedures and surgeries, including biopsies and skin cancer removals.
- Assist with cosmetic procedures, including Botox, chemical peels, and laser treatments.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and post-procedure care.
- Communicate biopsy and laboratory test results to patients as directed by the physician.
Clinic & Patient Coordination
- Maintain efficient patient flow and respond proactively to the operational needs of the clinic.
- Organize, clean, and prepare examination rooms and clinical areas for patient care.
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR), and stay current with EHR updates and changes.
- Monitor the EHR and email regularly to ensure timely follow-up and communication.
- Manage incoming phone calls and patient messages efficiently and appropriately.
- Triage patient calls and messages, escalating concerns to the appropriate clinical team member when necessary.
- Process medication refill requests and prior authorizations in a timely manner.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation throughout the patient care process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, military medical training program, or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of demonstrated clinical experience and proficiency may be considered in lieu of formal Medical Assistant education.
- Current Medical Assistant certification preferred, but not required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills with the ability to learn and navigate electronic health record systems and other clinical applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and coworkers.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional patient service and quality care.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain professional under pressure, and effectively address patient concerns or challenging situations.
