Description

Noctrix Health is redefining the treatment of chronic neurological disorders with clinically validated therapeutic wearables. Our team of medical device specialists, neuroscientists, and consumer electronics engineers is dedicated to delivering prescription-grade therapy with an outstanding user experience. We have pioneered the world’s first drug-free wearable therapy, clinically proven to alleviate symptoms in adults with drug-resistant Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Be part of our mission to transform healthcare, improve lives, and drive meaningful change with Noctrix Health.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Clinical Research Scientist to lead the strategy and execution of clinical research supporting the development and validation of emerging therapeutic technologies. This role will have direct responsibility for study design and analysis, physiological data collection, algorithm development, external research collaborations, and the communication of scientific findings through grants, publications, and conference presentations.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative scientist who is equally comfortable developing research strategy and working directly with engineering, clinical affairs, investigators, and research partners to execute studies and solve complex scientific problems. This individual will play a critical role in translating physiological and clinical data into meaningful product insights, clinical evidence, and future research opportunities.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Pleasanton, CA, with a minimum of three days onsite per week, or more depending on business needs. Travel is expected to be approximately 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead the execution of multiple clinical research studies in parallel
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of physiological and clinical data sets
  • Develop research strategies, study plans, protocols, case report forms, and statistical analysis plans that produce scientifically meaningful and operationally feasible data
  • Develop proof-of-concept algorithms that generate clinically meaningful insights from physiological data, including IMU, PPG, EMG, and other biosensor signals
  • Collaborate with embedded systems engineers to develop and refine systems for collecting physiological sensor data
  • Partner closely with Clinical Affairs, Engineering, Product, Regulatory, and other cross-functional teams to support research and product-development priorities
  • Write and submit grant reports, white papers, abstracts, manuscripts, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Present research findings at scientific and medical conferences
  • Develop and manage partnerships and collaborations with investigators, research sites, subject matter experts, and other external research partners
  • Provide training, technical guidance, and ongoing support to external research partners
  • Translate research findings into product specifications, user requirements, clinical strategies, and patent applications
  • Identify opportunities to expand the clinical research program through feasibility studies, external collaborations, publications, and grant applications
  • Maintain accurate study documentation and ensure research activities are conducted in accordance with applicable Good Clinical Practice standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage multiple research projects, priorities, timelines, and stakeholders within a collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a high level of ownership, accountability, scientific rigor, and hands-on involvement throughout study planning, execution, analysis, and reporting

Requirements

  • PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a closely related scientific or technical field
  • 3+ years of experience leading clinical research projects, preferably within the medical device industry
  • 2+ years of experience with physiological signal analysis and algorithm development
  • Strong first-author publication and/or grant-writing record demonstrating excellent technical writing ability
  • Proficiency in Python or advanced proficiency in a comparable programming language with the ability to work effectively in Python
  • Strong data-analysis skills ranging from interpreting small exploratory data sets to analyzing large and complex data sets
  • Experience designing research studies and developing protocols, analysis plans, and scientific documentation
  • Experience managing collaborations with investigators, subject matter experts, research sites, or external research partners
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear scientific, technical, and regulatory documentation
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Enthusiasm for providing hands-on support throughout the planning and execution of clinical research studies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, organization, and scientific integrity
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing NIH-funded clinical trials or contributing to successful grant applications
  • Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice standards and applicable CFR requirements for clinical research
  • Experience supporting research and development within an FDA-regulated medical device product-development environment
  • Experience with wearable technologies, neuromodulation, sleep medicine, neuroscience, or neurological disorders
  • Experience analyzing IMU, PPG, EMG, EEG, or other physiological and biosensor data
  • Experience translating clinical and physiological research findings into product requirements, development priorities, or intellectual property
  • Experience working within a startup, growth-stage, or rapidly evolving medical device organization

Compensation

  • Base pay: $130,000–$150,000 per year
  • Annual bonus eligibility
