Description
As a key member of our operations team, the HCl Loader is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of railcars and trucks containing raw materials and finished chemical products. You’ll operate industrial equipment, monitor safety protocols, perform minor mechanical tasks, and help maintain regulatory compliance in a high-paced manufacturing environment. This is for a 3rd shift position. Regular schedule is Sunday - Thursday 10pm - 6:00am.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload trucks and railcars with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, salt, and sodium bisulfate.
- Inspect and sample incoming/outgoing materials for quality assurance and compliance.
- Operate pumps, valves, dilution systems, truck scales, forklifts, yard tractors, and related equipment.
- Complete accurate documentation, including bills of lading, sampling logs, and QC records.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on HCl filters and other equipment.
- Respond to and resolve minor mechanical issues (e.g., gasket leaks, equipment resets).
- Support EH&S, OSHA, ISO, and Responsible Care procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Operate safely in outdoor conditions and confined spaces, often in full PPE.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Prior experience in chemical manufacturing or industrial loading preferred.
- Forklift certified or able to obtain certification (Terminal Tractor and Loader training provided).
- Must complete OSHA HAZWOPER training and maintain emergency response readiness.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Comfortable using basic math and computer systems for data entry.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow detailed procedures.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Work in a chemical manufacturing environment with exposure to acids, fumes, and high noise levels.
- Operate outdoors in varying weather (heat, rain, cold) for extended periods.
- Regularly wear PPE, including respirators and SCBA gear (medical clearance required).
- Lift and carry items up to 55 lbs.; move drums up to 400 lbs. with equipment assistance.
- Climb ladders and stairs (up to 140 ft), and enter confined spaces as needed.
- Manual dexterity and color vision required for accurate equipment and material handling.
- Must remain alert and safety-conscious in all tasks.
