Job Summary:

The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for the oversight of the security operation for a single location within the park. All Safety and Security team members play an integral role in continuing our park's daily operation by providing safety and security to all guests and employees. Team members must be at least 21 years of age, have computer experience and excellent communication and guest service skills. 

 

 

The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: October  - November 2026Pay:  $2,488.00/bi-weeklySchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility is the security leader of assigned location
• Perform all duties towards the goal of maximizing customer service and safety.
• Review daily, the security logs and incident reports and follow up on any issues that remain unresolved or require additional investigation.
• Establish and maintain on-going communication with other location department managers regarding the location security function.
• Continuously review the location security operation for needs and proactive measures.
• Project a positive, customer service-oriented demeanor when interacting with employees/visitors.
• Participate and present at the location Employee Orientation(s) held throughout the season regarding the security function – What We Do and How We Can Help!
• Establish and maintain the overall tone of the operation by communicating specific expectations to the Security Supervisors and Officers.
• Act as an ERG (Emergency Response Guidance) leader while on duty.
• Coordinate with HR and Location Management to schedule and complete random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy and all applicable state and federal laws.
• Plan to ensure that all pre-opening and monthly safety inspections are completed in a timely manner.
• Review payroll.
• Audit performance of the Security Staff using tools such as the HIG (How’s It Going?) form and determine what action needs to be taken – coaching, mentoring, training, e – for the department to succeed.
• Ability to present training topics to Security Staff and other departments or employees.
• Adhere to company and departmental policies and procedure.
• Coordinate regular meetings with NPS and Security.
• Any other duties as assigned by Director of Risk Management or Loss Prevention and Security Manager or their designee.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Successfully pass a background check as well as a pre-employment drug test.
• Previous experience in a management position preferably in the Security, Loss Prevention, Fire or EMS fields.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate maturity, professional demeanor, good judgment, diplomacy, objectivity, and sound conflict/crisis intervention and problem-solving skills for managing employee and guest complaints.
• Maintain positive employee relations and morale by practicing sound leadership and human relations principles, setting a good example in attitude and personal actions to always promote teamwork.
• Possess advanced computer skills to include familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to learn company computer programs used for such tasks as incident reports and daily logs, payroll and ordering.
• Be a proficient typist, averaging a minimum of 30 words per minute.
• Have or be able to obtain CPR, first aid, and AED certification through the American Heart Association. (Training available through Xanterra Parks & Resorts)
• Ability to obtain BAT (Breath Alcohol Technician) certification and be trained in oral drug and alcohol testing procedure (Training available through Xanterra Parks & Resorts)
• Delegate daily tasks and shiftwork for regular completion.
• Always maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance.
• Coach and mentor staff on a regular basis throughout the season and provide training opportunities and feedback. Plan and participate in one-on-one training for the staff members.
• Have strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with keen attention to detail, including the ability to write clear, concise, and detailed reports.
• Requires the ability to communicate professionally and effectively via two-way radio, cellphone and any other means with a diverse population of employees and guests.
• Be able to quickly learn the layout of the assigned location, established policies and procedures, and location specific duties.

Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):

• Experience in a hospitality or resort environment.
• Knowledge of company structure and policies helpful.

Physical Requirements include:

• Must be willing and able to work any shift (day, swings, and overnight). The actual shift hours will depend upon staffing level and the needs of the security department and business operation.
• Must be able to work continuously up to twelve hour
• Must be flexible with scheduling, working a variety of shifts in a single week based on the needs of the location being oversee
• Requires frequent standing and walking for up to twelve hour
• Requires occasional climbing, sitting, stooping, bending, and/or kneeling. Could total up to two hours per
• Must be able to respond in a safe and prompt manner to emergent situations.
• Must be able to shovel snow/gravel during times of inclement weather.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift to 40 pounds infrequently (e.g. assist emergency medical personnel with loading/unloading patients into and out of ambulances).
