High School Athletic Director

St. Benedict at Auburndale Catholic High School seeks an organized, mission-driven Athletic Director to lead our interscholastic athletic program. Reporting to the Principal in all matters concerning athletics, the Athletic Director oversees scheduling, compliance, coach supervision, facilities, and budget while fostering a culture of fair play, good sportsmanship, and academic integrity. This individual ensures that athletics at SBA form the whole student-athlete in keeping with the mission and values of a Catholic educational environment rooted in the Benedictine tradition.   Full-Time, Exempt | 12-Month Position

Reports to: Principal

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership & Culture

• Supports the mission and philosophy of the school and ensures the athletic program reflects its Catholic and Benedictine identity.

• Nurtures an environment of fair play, good sportsmanship, and respect among student-athletes, coaches, and spectators.

• Supports all academic policies of the school and upholds academic eligibility standards for student-athletes.

• Maintains a working knowledge of school policies as articulated in the school handbook.

• Upholds and promotes a strong commitment to faith based values, servant leadership, and high moral and ethical standards. 

Scheduling, Compliance & Game Management

• Schedules all athletic competitions and coordinates officials, transportation, and facilities.

• Ensures compliance with Title IX and TSSAA regulations.

• Supervises home competitions and athletic events.

Coach Supervision & Safe Environment

• Maintains frequent and efficient communication with all coaches.

• Supervises and monitors head coaches, assistant coaches, community coaches, and adult volunteers.

• Oversees Diocese of Memphis Safe Environment requirements for all coaches and volunteers, including background checks and required training.

Budget, Facilities & Operations

• Assists in developing the athletic portion of the school's master budget.

• Places orders and maintains inventory of athletic materials, equipment, supplies, and uniforms.

• Frequently inspects home facilities and recommends repairs and improvements to the administration.

Student-Athlete Support & Community Relations

• Works with the administration and guidance department on the collegiate recruitment of student-athletes.

• Maintains effective public relations with families, alumni, opponents, and the wider community.

• Attends meetings as requested and performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

 Required

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a closely related field.

• 3-5 years of experience 

• Proven successful athletic record

• Familiarity with TSSAA regulations and Title IX compliance.

• Valid driver's license; some travel required.

• Ability to successfully complete diocesan background check and Safe Environment training.

• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

Preferred

• Master's degree.

• Classroom teaching experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

• Full-time, 12-month position based on campus and at athletic venues.

• Normal work week of approximately 40 hours on a year-round basis; evening and weekend hours are required to supervise competitions and events.

• Some travel required for away competitions, meetings, and conferences.

• Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 pounds.
