Description
Senior Water Resources Hydrogeologist/Engineer
Location: Houston, TX or Austin, TX (candidates elsewhere in Texas or in other locations may be considered)
Type: Full-time, professional
About the Role
Lead business development, project management, and technical oversight for water resources projects, from early planning through design, implementation, and completion. You will report to the Practice Area Director and work with clients in Texas, Colorado, California, and other states.
What You'll Do
Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical resource on hydrogeologic conceptual models, water balances, numerical modeling, and groundwater availability
- Lead water supply assessments, planning studies, and conservation programs
- Guide groundwater well design, construction, and testing
- Review project deliverables for quality and accuracy
Project Management
- Set project strategy and lead technical staff to deliver on time and within budget
- Manage scope, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and subconsultants
Business Development
- Identify new opportunities and prepare proposals and statements of qualifications
- Develop scopes of work and fee estimates
- Build lasting client and industry relationships as a trusted advisor
Team Development
- Mentor junior and mid-level staff in technical, project management, and business development skills
- Help supervise and grow the Texas team
- Assist in setting performance goals
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
Licensure
- Active Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain Texas licensure through reciprocity
Experience
- 8+ years as a hydrogeologist or engineer on water resources projects
- Proven business development success, including proposals, contract execution, and repeat business
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and responsive client communication
- Track record of maintaining long-term client relationships
Technical Skills
- Numerical groundwater modeling (e.g., MODFLOW) and groundwater availability investigations
- Water resources planning, ArcGIS, data management and visualization, and technical writing
- Knowledge of Texas groundwater regulations, water data sources, groundwater availability models, and regional water planning

Work Environment
- Fast-paced setting with a high workload and frequent short deadlines
- Occasional travel, sometimes overnight, for client meetings and site visits (up to 25%)
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and to sit or stand for extended periods
- Regular communication in person, by phone, and in virtual meetings
