Scope of the Role
As a CMM Layout Inspector, you ensure parts and critical commodities meet print and specification requirements before they move forward. This role exists to protect product quality and support safe, compliant aerospace manufacturing.
Key responsibilities:
- Run incoming, in-process, First Article, receiving, and final inspections using CMM and standard methods
- Create and refine PC-DMIS CMM programs to improve throughput and repeatability
- Plan and coordinate the CMM inspection queue to maximize machine utilization
- Perform mechanical inspection using micrometers, calipers, height/depth gages, and optical comparator
- Document results per the Business Management System; support ISO/AS9100 compliance and audits
- Help resolve tolerance/variance issues and generate nonconformance reports as needed
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED plus 5+ years CMM operation/programming/maintenance (or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with common precision inspection tools
Apply if you can deliver accurate layouts, clear documentation, and consistent follow-through.
How Your Day Runs
You start first shift onsite in Oxnard by reviewing the inspection schedule and the day’s priority jobs. You set up the CMM, load the correct program, and confirm revision-controlled documentation matches what’s on the floor. Between CMM runs, you move to bench checks for quick confirmations and follow up on any open questions tied to tolerances or variances.
Throughout the day you log results cleanly in the system, keep the queue moving, and coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality when something doesn’t look right. When issues come up, you help drive timely containment and clear communication so production can make informed decisions. You wrap up by ensuring records are complete and the next run is ready to go.
