POSITION PURPOSE

The DFSS Youth Mentor reports to the Site Director and Data Director. The purpose of this position is to interpret, plan, and carry out all aspects of programming and services related to the DFSS Youth Mentoring Program at assigned sites, as outlined in the site-specific LOA/MOU. The Youth Mentor provides leadership in the development, planning, and implementation of mentoring activities, special events, and grant-supported deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required reports.


SCOPE OF AUTHORITY

The DFSS Youth Mentor is responsible for implementing the Mentoring Program at their assigned club site. The Mentor assesses and evaluates program needs, participates in required trainings and professional development, and ensures that all participants receive services and engage in activities as established in the LOA/MOU and grant program narrative.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise all aspects of the planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of the DFSS Youth Mentoring Program.
  • Conduct effective recruitment and outreach of youth participants
  • Provide leadership for Leadership Development Programs
  • Evaluate participant’s performance and progress
  • Provide social-emotional support and engage youth in SEL skill-building, Trauma-Informed Care, Restorative Justice Practices, Academic Achievement Support, Leadership Development, and Project-Based Programming
  • Develop objectives aligned with DFSS performance outcomes and metrics.
  • Reviews, files, reports to City Span, maintain accurate program and logistical records
  • Oversees project-based program participants, other staff and volunteers.
  • Maintains yearly files, information, literature and meeting minutes of all programs, activities and special events.
  • Communicate with internal and external youth mentors to incorporate best practices
  • Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned staff and Volunteers
  • Responsible for collecting outcome measurements such as pre, and post-test assessments for grant deliverables
  • Ensures programs are evaluated for outcomes, effectiveness, and level of participation

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma
  • At least two years of experience in program development, planning, implementation, or administration.
  • Ability to work in a team driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff supervision, program management, and project coordination skills.
  • Solid knowledge and experience of mentoring program development and implementation.
