Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to define and evolve the architecture, information management strategy and technology roadmap for a Common Data Environment (CDE) and construction digitalisation ecosystem.

The role will shape how project, design, construction, handover and operational information is governed, exchanged and consumed across internal teams, consultants, contractors, service providers and delivery partners.

You will establish scalable architecture patterns, integration models, information structures and governance frameworks that enable secure and trusted information exchange across CDE, BIM, project delivery and enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the target architecture and technology roadmap for the CDE ecosystem, covering partner collaboration, construction digitalisation, BIM coordination, governance, interoperability and scalability.
  • Define information architecture across planning, design, construction, handover and operations, including metadata, classification, naming conventions, project structures, document hierarchies and information lifecycles.
  • Establish standards for information ownership, stewardship, permissions, approval states, retention, auditability and traceability.
  • Ensure information management practices align with CDE principles and ISO 19650 standards.
  • Design reusable architecture patterns for document management, BIM coordination, workflows, collaboration, issue management, approvals, partner onboarding, information exchange and digital handover.
  • Design architecture that supports multiple current and future CDE platforms while minimising unnecessary vendor dependency.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for extensibility, scalability, resiliency, security and operational supportability.
  • Define API strategies, event-driven architecture patterns and interoperability standards across CDE, BIM, project delivery, asset management and enterprise systems.
  • Design information flows across platforms such as Autodesk, Nemetschek, LeapThought, Bentley, Procore and Oracle Aconex.
  • Support digital handover and long-term asset information management across the project and asset lifecycle.
  • Provide architectural guidance to Product Managers, Business Analysts, Designers and Engineering teams on solution design, technical trade-offs, platform evolution and technical debt.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, cloud and platform engineering teams to ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture and security standards.
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, reference architectures and reusable integration patterns.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, implementation approaches and technology roadmaps.
  • Promote open standards and interoperability across the construction technology ecosystem.
  • Provide architectural recommendations on platform capability expansion, consolidation and rationalisation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, platform architecture or large-scale systems integration.
  • Proven experience delivering construction technology, project information management, CDE or BIM-related solutions.
  • Strong understanding of solution, information, integration and platform architecture principles.
  • Experience designing cloud-native and enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Experience designing platforms involving multiple products, stakeholders, organisations and delivery partners.
  • Proven experience defining architecture standards, reference architectures, integration models and technology roadmaps.
  • Practical experience with CDE architecture, BIM ecosystems, construction information management, project collaboration platforms or document management solutions.
  • Strong understanding of revision control, digital handover and asset information management.
  • Strong understanding of how project and asset information is created, reviewed, shared, approved, transferred and reused throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles and multi-party information exchange.
  • Strong stakeholder management and architecture governance skills.
  • Ability to balance business requirements, governance, technical constraints, security and long-term maintainability.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on architecture, implementation or governance experience with platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Platform Services, Nemetschek, LeapThought, Bentley, Procore or Oracle Aconex.
  • Experience working across multiple CDE and construction technology ecosystems.
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology, BIM collaboration, information management, digital delivery, design coordination and digital handover.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, API Management, microservices, event-driven architecture and enterprise integration.
  • Experience with SaaS platform architecture and identity and access management.
  • Knowledge of information governance, data governance, security architecture, compliance, audit and traceability controls.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging CDE, BIM and construction technology solutions and recommend practical adoption approaches.

Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate is a pragmatic Solutions Architect who combines strong architecture expertise with knowledge of construction information management, CDE and BIM ecosystems.
  • You should be comfortable working across business stakeholders, construction and information management teams, technology vendors, enterprise architects and engineering teams. You should also understand how to leverage platforms such as Autodesk, Nemetschek, LeapThought, Bentley, Procore and Oracle Aconex while maintaining interoperability, information ownership and long-term architectural flexibility.
