Job Title: Human Resources Generalist I
Summary:
The HR Generalist will provide responsive and effective service to team members and internal departments while administering the recruiting, selection, and hiring process while supporting human resources programs including culture development, compensation, benefits, health, team member relations, training, government compliance, and performance management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support and demonstrate company vision, mission, values, and strategy:

Customer Service/Teamwork:
‒ greet team members and other visitors/callers in a friendly manner and assist them with questions; provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
‒ respond to customer requests in a timely and effective manner
‒ support team on programs, projects, process improvements, and back-up, including benefit open enrollment, wellness projects, training, etc.
‒ take the initiative to foresee and resolve problems without direction
Selection & Hiring:
‒ Work with supervisors to attract, hire, and retain the best possible talent
‒ Run hiring cycle: Post jobs, Review applications/resumes, set up interviews for internal and external candidates, work with supervisors on selection, and manage new-hire process
‒ Work with supervisors to develop and update Job Descriptions and key performance indicators
‒ Leverage online recruiting resources, tools, and systems to identify and recruit the best candidates
‒ Execution of the recruitment social media communication, ruled by approved Marketing and HR Marketing principles
‒ Serve as the primary point of contact for staffing agencies, recruiting firms, search firms, and other external recruiting partners that support Kiolbassa’s hiring needs.
‒ Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; emphasizing benefits and perks.
‒ Maintain Quality of Hire Evaluations
‒ Monitor and Maintain ATS process, company careers website and company’s careers email.
‒ Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, job employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining relationships.
‒ Represent Kiolbassa at job fairs, career fairs, hiring events, networking events, college and university recruiting events, and other community employment events.
‒ Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications.
‒ Ensure all hiring paperwork is filled out thoroughly and all required screening protocols are completed including E-verify and I-9’s for all new hires as well as drug tests and background checks when required by the client.
Administration:
‒ Administers human resource programs, policies and processes
‒ Counsels/assists team members on human resources programs, policies, processes and employee-related matters.
‒ Consults with supervisors regarding human resources/recruiting-related issues
‒ Support investigations and employee relations processes under the direction of HR leadership.
‒ Takes initiative and a proactive role in doing all human resources related work
‒ Support team members with benefits enrollment including medical, life, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, and COBRA, etc.
‒ Collaborates with payroll for adjustments or changes
‒ Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information.
Training:
‒ Liaison with supervisors for Onboarding of new hires
‒ Conduct New-Hire Orientations
Government Compliance:
‒ Ensures that company is in full compliance with all Local, State and Federal laws and regulations
‒ Analyzes the effect of new laws or administrative regulations on human resources/recruiting programs and recommends policies and procedures for implementation
‒ Conduct research as assigned and prepare reports on findings
‒ Remains current on laws, regulations, and practices by subscribing to related literature, attending conferences, seminars, and/or enrolling in courses
Safety & Quality: Interface with and support Safety/Workers’ Comp. and Quality Programs
‒ Ensures compliance with regulations, company policies, and procedures related to team member safety, food safety, and quality programs
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience required.
Preferred: Human Resources Certification – PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification.
Experience:
2- 3 years of professional human resources experience.
Preferred: Successful human resources experience working in a food manufacturing plant.
Knowledge/Skills:
‒ Strong organizational skills
‒ Knowledge of human resources principles, methods, and techniques
‒ Knowledge of relevant federal and state labor laws, regulations, and operating guidelines.
‒ Demonstrated leadership and team building skills to effectively supervise and interact with professional and non-professional staff

‒ Strong verbal and written communication skills
‒ Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills
‒ Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and an HRIS system

‒ Must have strong time-management skills and ability to multitask
‒ Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
‒ Experience with HRIS systems – preferred Workday
Abilities:
‒ Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently;
‒ Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently is necessary
‒ Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other written materials
‒ Maintain accurate files and records
‒ Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
*Works onsite in an office environment. Must be able to work sitting and using computer for an extended period of time.
*Involves exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, and/or noise when entering production areas for short periods of time.
*Light physical effort. Requires standing, sitting, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, fine dexterity, and occasionally carrying objects up to 20 pounds for no more than fifteen feet.
