What You Will Do


The Components Analytical Group within the Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) Module Center is seeking a Bearings & Seals Engineer I with strong analytical and design skills to expand the team.  Activities will involve design and analyses of carbon seals, rolling element bearings including validation and project related activity for commercial and military P&W gas turbine engines.


As a Bearings & Seals Engineer I at Pratt & Whitney, you will......


  • Conduct failure mode investigation and analysis using P&W root cause and corrective action methods and tools.
  • Provide field support with customers and suppliers involving new designs, rig testing, and investigations.
  • Routine supplier, customer, and P&W discipline interaction to perform and manage design, analysis, analysis, validation, and production of new and legacy bearing and seal related components.
  • Continuous improvement of engineering standard work including development of tools to support new technologies and advance analytical substantiation.
  • Routine presentation of design and analytical results to the customer and executive management.
  • Regular involvement and contributions to other P&W process improvement efforts.
  • Travel up to 5%

 

What You Will Learn


  • Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney. 

Qualifications You Must Have


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering or related Science, Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects. 

Qualifications We Prefer 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering obtained by start date
  • Aerospace industry experience involving gas turbine engine bearings and seals design, analysis and testing.
  • Experience with NX, MATLAB, ANSYS, Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
