POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State (University Park, PA) announces a one-year Postdoctoral Scholar position for the analysis of Saharan dust using a regional modeling framework. The candidate will undertake sensitivity studies using the WRF/MPAS model to address lower tropospheric heating in the presence of Saharan Dust. The successful candidate will have experience in simulating dust aerosols using regional models and comparing them the satellite and surface observations.
Responsibilities: Analysis of observations and numerical simulations of Saharan dust using reanalyses as lateral boundary conditions. Lead or support peer-reviewed publications built around these analyses.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a related field by the time of hire.
- Experience use of the WRF or MPAS model.
- Strong computational skills.
- Good communications and writing skills.
