Senior Specialist, AML Compliance
In this role, you will be a member of Western Union’s Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) located within the Global Compliance organization. The FIU assists to mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risks to Western Union. This highly visible area is responsible for identifying, escalating, and mitigating money laundering risk related activity.
Specifically, in this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing potentially unusual money transfer/money order transactions and patterns that may be indicative of money laundering or terrorist financing concerns or have no apparent economic or lawful purpose. This role will analyze elements such as the background and purpose of transactions, collect and document relevant account and transactional data, review and analyze data, and make decisions regarding potential regulatory filing or other compliance/risk concerns. This role is also responsible for proper documentation of analytical work based on established procedures. At times, this role may be asked to work on specific projects or non-standard tasks and oversight processes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis of transactions stemming from automated alerts to identify potential money laundering and other potential risks/typologies associated with either WU Consumers, WU Payments Clients/customers, and/or Agent Network locations. This also includes taking necessary risk mitigation steps that may include reporting suspicious and/or unusual activity as required by AML laws or following other internal Western Union procedures.
- Document and/or refer specific cases for further investigation.
- Work cross-functionally with global teams across the FIU organization and/or support projects and/or non-standard tasks to further department priorities.
- Participate in team efforts such as huddles, problem solving, training, and innovation efforts of the team, FIU, and Western Union.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in any of the following: Bank Secrecy Act, AML Compliance, general and/or risk-based compliance.
- 1+ years of experience with open-source using online tools.
- 1+ years of experience with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of trends and developments in Anti-Money Laundering risks and concerns, along with keeping up to date in product use and associated risks.
- Familiarity/experience with tools such SharePoint, Lexis Nexis (or similar), Tableau, and/or applicable Western Union systems/applications.
Preferred
- Experience working cross functionally is preferred

Salary
The base salary range is $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
