Position Summary

Forge Nano is seeking a Semiconductor Field Process Support Engineer to join our Semiconductor Service Team. Reporting to the Field Service Director, this customer-facing role combines semiconductor process engineering and field service support to install, optimize, and maintain Forge Nano's Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) systems at semiconductor fabs, microelectronics facilities, and research sites.

The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic customer-facing environments, enjoys solving complex process and equipment challenges, and possesses strong technical knowledge of semiconductor thin-film deposition processes and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

Customer Process Support & Applications Engineering

  • Serve as the on-site process and technical expert for Forge Nano ALD systems at customer semiconductor and microelectronics facilities.
  • Support process development, recipe optimization, film characterization, and troubleshooting for ALD deposition applications.
  • Analyze process performance data and identify opportunities to improve film quality, throughput, yield, and system reliability.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve process-related challenges and support new application development efforts.

System Installation, Commissioning & Service Support

  • Lead Site Acceptance Testing during tool installation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve both process and hardware-related issues on ALD systems in customer environments.
  • Provide ongoing customer process support and equipment performance optimization.
  • Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to implement system upgrades, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Customer Training & Technical Collaboration

  • Train customer personnel on system operation, process fundamentals, and safety best practices.
  • Develop strong customer relationships by providing professional, responsive, and technically sound support.
  • Work closely with Forge Nano Engineering, R&D, Applications, and Service teams to improve product performance and customer success.
  • Document customer interactions, troubleshooting activities, service reports, and process findings in accordance with company procedures.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Record, analyze, and communicate process and equipment performance data to internal stakeholders.
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective action efforts for process, hardware, and customer support issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service procedures, process recipes, system reliability, and overall customer experience.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable safety, quality, and cleanroom operating standards while working in both Forge Nano and customer facilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in semiconductor process engineering, thin-film deposition, or related semiconductor manufacturing roles.
  • Experience with ALD, CVD, PVD, or other advanced thin-film deposition technologies.
  • Strong understanding of vacuum systems, gas delivery systems, semiconductor process controls, and equipment operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex process and hardware issues in production or research environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) equipment, process development, and recipe optimization.
  • Experience working in semiconductor fabrication facilities, cleanroom environments, or advanced materials research laboratories.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and process data analysis methodologies.
  • Previous experience in field service, applications engineering, customer support, or equipment commissioning roles.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor EHS requirements, cleanroom protocols, and industry best practices.

Work Environment

This position requires work at Forge Nano facilities, customer sites, and remote locations. Employees will regularly work in semiconductor cleanrooms, laboratories, manufacturing environments, and technical facilities that may involve limited physical clearance and the handling of hazardous chemicals.

Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and lab coats, is required. Strict adherence to company and customer safety policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures is mandatory.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The role frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, using hands to operate tools and equipment, and communicating with customers and team members. Employees may occasionally work near moving mechanical equipment and in moderate noise environments. Periodic lifting and moving of equipment, tools, and containers weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.

Travel

Frequent domestic and international travel of up to 50% is required to support customer installations, process development activities, troubleshooting, training, preventive maintenance, and service support.

Forge Nano is headquartered in Thornton, Colorado. Relocation assistance is not currently offered. Strong candidates residing outside Colorado will be considered, provided they can commit to completing the initial training period on-site in Thornton, CO.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $43.00-$53.00 per hour, per hour, commensurate with the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. Overtime may be available and is subject to prior management approval. Placement within the pay range will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and alignment with internal equity considerations among current employees.
