The Role and Impact

At Intel, we are accelerating the future of computing through AI, HPC, and heterogeneous programming models. Triton has emerged as one of the most important open-source programming languages and compiler ecosystems for AI workloads, enabling developers to create highly optimized GPU kernels that power modern machine learning frameworks and applications.

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team developing Triton compiler technologies for Intel GPUs and AI accelerators. In this role, you will combine people leadership and technical leadership to help deliver compiler innovations that enable high-performance AI workloads on Intel platforms.

You will partner with compiler engineers, hardware architects, AI framework developers, and open-source communities to develop and optimize Triton compiler capabilities while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

The Data Center Group (DCG) is at the forefront of advancing data-centric solutions for global-scale computing. Responsible for delivering high-performance technologies and innovations, this group plays a vital role in enabling Intel's broader goals of powering data center systems and accelerating AI development. The AI Compiler Engineering organization within DCG focuses on developing software solutions that optimize application performance, enabling customers to achieve unparalleled efficiency and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and support a team of compiler engineers developing Triton compiler technologies.
• Drive execution of team priorities, project plans, and deliverables.
• Partner with hardware, software, and AI framework teams to define requirements and solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on compiler design, optimization, and performance analysis.
• Support development of Triton front-end, optimization, and backend compiler components.
• Help remove technical and organizational barriers that impact team execution.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
• Mentor engineers and support career development.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and talent development activities.
• Collaborate with open-source communities including Triton, LLVM, and MLIR.
• Ensure software quality through sound engineering practices, testing, and code reviews.
• Drive improvements in performance, scalability, and usability for AI workloads on Intel platforms.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree, research and or relevant previous job and or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 6+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience OR PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience.


The experience must include:
• Experience in compiler technologies, programming languages, and software optimization.
• Experience in software development practices, debugging methodologies, and validation techniques.
• Programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
• Ability to manage teams and deliver results across the software lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Experience in leading software development teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration and growth.
• Experience with LLVM, MLIR, Triton, or related compiler frameworks.
• Experience with AI/ML workloads and frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Familiarity with GPU architectures, parallel programming, or accelerator technologies.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects.
• Experience developing compiler optimizations, code generation, or runtime systems.
