Your role and responsibilities

In this position, you will have the chance to assist in the development of digital applications and procedures in the Operations department, with a special focus on ProjectWorx and calcIT. You will serve as the main point of contact between business users, project management, internal stakeholders and external development partners, converting operational requirements into effective digital solutions.

You are responsible for the technical administration and configuration of business applications, for analysing and specifying new business requirements, for co-ordinating software enhancements, and for ensuring the quality of new software releases by means of structured testing. Furthermore, you will provide support to the organisation through reporting, by giving users training, through application support, and by continuously improving digital processes.

The model of working for this position is hybrid and the role involves contributing to the Operations department at ABB Energy Industries in Austria. The main stakeholders are Operations, Project Management, Engineering, Sales, Finance/Controlling, the business application users, and the internal and external development partners.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • The management and development of business applications involves carrying out technical administration, setting up system configurations, managing master data, handling interfaces, defining user roles and authorization concepts, and also includes monitoring system tickets and coordinating troubleshooting activities.
  • Analyzing, recording and detailing the business requirements and converting them into structured functional requirements and specifications. Coordinating the implementation with both internal and external development partners and making sure that the business requirements and the technical solutions are aligned.
  • Making sure that the applications meet quality standards and that the software is successfully released by means of test planning, carrying out functional and acceptance testing, co-ordinating releases and producing documentation. Creating and keeping up user documentation and training materials as well as carrying out user training and offering key user support.
  • The role involves providing support for operations and project management through the use of digitalisation, automation and data-driven reporting, covering areas such as project and resource planning, project control, the quotation process, the preparation of management information and reports, and taking part in continuous process improvement initiatives. It is possible that the scope of the role will gradually include operations team assistance activities.

You will join a collaborative, solution-oriented and digitally focused Operations team, where you will work closely with different business functions and have the opportunity to actively shape and improve our processes and digital tools

Qualifications for the role

  • You have experience, preferably in a project-driven, engineering or industrial environment, in the use of business applications, digital tools and operational processes.
  • You possess experience in the field of requirements engineering and in business process analysis, and you are able to convert business needs into well-structured functional specifications as well as coordinate the requirements with software developers and other stakeholders.
  • You have a high level of expertise in the administration of business applications, in testing, and in the management of the application lifecycle, including system configuration, master data management, interfaces, roles and authorization concepts, as well as testing and release processes.
  • You are deeply interested in digitalization, process optimization and automation and take pleasure in spotting opportunities to simplify operational processes by means of digital solutions.
  • You have strong abilities in analysis and organisation, together with a methodical and independent way of working and the capability of preparing reports and management information based on operational data.
