Keep Our Production Equipment Running!

Do you know industrial parts, enjoy solving mechanical problems, and have a knack for keeping inventory organized and accurate? Crystal Creamery is looking for a Plant Maintenance Parts & Inventory Clerk to support our maintenance team at our Modesto dairy manufacturing facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands maintenance parts and inventory and enjoys working hands-on with mechanics while also using computer systems to manage stock, purchasing information, and inventory reports.

You won't just sit behind a desk or count inventory. You'll work directly with maintenance mechanics to identify equipment parts, help locate the correct replacements, organize parts for upcoming repairs, and ensure our maintenance team has what it needs to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Requirements

Work Directly with Maintenance Mechanics

  • Partner with maintenance mechanics to identify equipment, inspect components, and determine the      correct replacement parts.
  • Accompany mechanics to equipment when necessary to verify part numbers, measurements, specifications, and      compatibility.
  • Research parts using equipment  manuals, technical documentation, vendor catalogs, and supplier resources.
  • Help mechanics locate the parts they need for repairs, preventive maintenance, and planned work orders.
  • Prepare parts kits in advance so mechanics have the right materials before beginning scheduled maintenance.

Manage Parts Inventory and the Stockroom

  • Receive incoming parts and supplies, verify deliveries, and ensure materials are properly labeled and stored.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, stock locations, and item information in the MP2 maintenance management system.
  • Monitor inventory levels, identify low-stock items, and help ensure critical spare parts are available when needed.
  • Perform cycle counts, investigate inventory discrepancies, and process authorized stock adjustments.
  • Identify obsolete, excess, and surplus inventory and work with maintenance and engineering to improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient maintenance parts room.

Use Computer Systems and Reporting Tools

  • Enter and update part numbers, descriptions, quantities, stock locations, and vendor information in MP2.
  • Run inventory, cycle count,  usage, and other system reports to help management monitor inventory and  make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Review inventory data for accuracy and identify discrepancies that need attention.
  • Maintain accurate records, purchase documentation, and other required paperwork.
  • Help improve inventory tracking,  parts identification, and stockroom procedures.

Support Plant Operations

  • Communicate with maintenance mechanics, supervisors, vendors, and management regarding parts availability and outstanding requests.
  • Participate in shift handoffs to communicate parts needs, shortages, and updates.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to  obtain quotes, verify specifications, and identify suitable replacement parts.
  • Support preventive maintenance  planning, equipment reliability, food safety, and plant improvement  initiatives.
  • Follow company safety procedures,  Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and applicable food safety requirements.
  • Operate a forklift as needed while maintaining current certification.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with both people and computer systems.

Required or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial  maintenance parts, MRO inventory, storeroom operations, parts purchasing, or a related field.
  • Ability to identify mechanical  and electrical components and help determine the correct replacement parts.
  • Comfort working alongside  mechanics and inspecting equipment to verify parts requirements.
  • Strong computer skills, including  data entry, maintaining accurate records, and running reports.
  • Experience with inventory or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); MP2 experience is a   plus.
  • Ability to research parts through  equipment manuals, catalogs, part numbers, and vendor resources.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and  follow-through when working with maintenance personnel, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with receiving, organizing, and handling parts.

Experience in a dairy, food processing, manufacturing, or other industrial maintenance environment is highly desirable.
