Job Description

The Motion Analysis Center (MAC) Engineer is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of motion capture equipment, as well as data acquisition and processing of clinical and research based motion capture data. This position works as part of the Shriners Children's Motion Analysis Center, supporting clinical care and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the system MAC engineer, the MAC engineer obtains and maintains CMLA accreditation.
• Maintains competency in equipment calibration, collection of the raw data, processing of data and report generation.
• Performs regular consistency, accuracy and quality assurance tests on all lab equipment and software
• Performs data collection for research projects and clinical care at the local facility.
• Preforms data processing, data management and clinical report generation for local and system facilities.
• Assist with department scheduling as needed.
• In a timely manner, generates concise and clearly organized motion evaluations
• Assist system MAC Engineer and Development Specialist with the development and integration of new clinical programs.

• Demonstrates knowledge in basic coding to develop models, and/or process/store/retrieve data.
• Assists the system MAC Engineer in developing new technologies that quantify motion for children with and without disabilities.
• Manages local data collection, storage and retrieval for clinical care and research.
• Provides orientation and training to new therapists, technicians, students and volunteers to ensure proper use of equipment, accurate data collection and processing with output consistent with lab protocol.
• Functions as a role model within the healthcare team, promoting a positive, organized and safe work environment based on open communication.
• Assists the system MAC Engineer in research and quality improvement projects that improve quality of care, and lab efficiency.
• Participates in research and quality improvement projects
• Participates in departmental educational opportunities such as in services, journal clubs, and annual mandatory competencies.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of motion analysis and/or biomechanics experience
• Minimum 2 years of programming experience (Python, MATLAB)

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. or higher preferred in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, or related field
• 2+ years of motion analysis and/or biomechanics experience
• 2+ years of programming experience (Python)
• Database management and querying (SQL, GraphQL)
• Familiarity with Vicon motion capture system

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
