Job Description:

Job Title
Maintenance and Reliability Supervisor

Collaborate with Innovative 3Mers Around the World

Choosing where to start and grow your career has a major impact on your professional and personal life, so it’s equally important you know that the company that you choose to work at, and its leaders, will support and guide you. With a wide variety of people, global locations, technologies and products, 3M is a place where you can collaborate with other curious, creative 3Mers.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Maintenance and Reliability Supervisor will provide supervision and direction to maintenance technicians, performing maintenance tasks on machines, systems, and facilities to maximize reliability and efficiency of operations.

As a Maintenance and Reliability Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Promoting a safe, sustainable, and learning-oriented work environment by modeling safe behaviors, resolving safety risks, leading incident investigations, and implementing sustainable corrective actions that prevent recurrence while capturing and applying organizational learning to continuously improve systems, processes, and risk controls
  • Leading, coaching, and developing employees through strong floor presence, clear expectations, timely feedback, recognition, and a focus on employee development that leverages individual strengths, talents, and passions while building problem-solving capabilities and ownership for continuous improvement at all levels of the organization.
  • Supervising and providing technical guidance to Plant Engineering personnel performing maintenance on machines, systems, and facilities to improve equipment reliability, eliminate chronic equipment losses, and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Shifting maintenance practices from reactive response to proactive and predictive strategies by using root cause analysis, precision maintenance best practices, maintenance history, and cross-functional input to identify and eliminate the systemic causes of recurring failures, reduce downtime, improve asset performance, and ensure problems are permanently improved rather than repeatedly repaired.
  • Building future-ready team capabilities in areas such as technical skills, CMMS utilization, reliability practices, data-driven decision-making, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, while fostering a culture that challenges the status quo and seeks sustainable improvements over temporary fixes.
  • Scheduling, assigning, and directing maintenance work while monitoring progress, confirming proper procedures, evaluating quality of work, and supporting structured problem-solving that drives corrective, preventive, and improvement actions.
  • Supporting Plant Engineering priorities and site initiatives, which may include oversight of support functions such as custodial, buildings and grounds, stockroom, specialty maintenance parts procurement, alternative shift coverage, on-call support, and flexible schedules to support 24/7 operations while identifying opportunities to improve asset reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational excellence across the site.
