  • Execute inspections and tests according to approved control plans, work instructions, drawings, specifications, sampling plans, reaction plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Use calibrated inspection and test equipment to verify dimensional, torque, runout, backlash, preload, press-fit, leak, cleanliness, sealing, and functional requirements, as applicable.
  • Identify, segregate, label, and document nonconforming material and support containment, sorting, re-inspection, controlled rework, and verification activities under the direction of the Powertrain Quality Mechanical Engineer.
  • Escalate abnormalities promptly and provide clear evidence, samples, measurements, photographs, and traceability information to support customer protection and rapid decision-making.
  • Accurately record inspection, test, repair, audit, and containment results in approved Quality, MES, QMS, and traceability systems.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective action trials, validation builds, and effectiveness checks related to mechanical defects and process variation, including internal Quality failures and Field Quality feedback.
  • Conduct visual and workmanship evaluations and support investigations related to fit, sealing, lubrication, noise, vibration, contamination, damage, and assembly concerns.
  • Support equipment qualification, gage validation, measurement system analysis, correlation studies, line trials, safe launch activities, launch readiness reviews, and engineering change implementation.
  • Participate in layered process audits, product audits, compliance checks, and verification of standardized work and process controls.
  • Maintain inspection equipment, fixtures, gages, master samples, and work areas in a controlled and production-ready condition and report calibration or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Complete required training and certifications and contribute to continuous improvement, defect prevention, lessons learned, and reduction of repeat issues.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, specifications, tolerance requirements, process documentation, control plans, and inspection standards.
  • Practical knowledge of calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, bore gages, torque tools, attribute gages, surface plates, leak-test equipment, and other mechanical inspection tools.
  • Working knowledge of precision assembly, machining, castings, gears, bearings, seals, fastening, lubrication, cleanliness, and thermal-management components.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with Quality Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Incoming Quality, and Supplier Quality teams.
  • Hands-on, customer-focused approach with the ability to work safely while prioritizing multiple production and launch activities.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with MES, QMS, digital inspection, and traceability systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or a related discipline required. A high school diploma with extensive relevant experience may be considered.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, Quality Operations, or a related environment.
  • Ability to use mechanical measurement and inspection equipment and maintain accurate inspection and traceability records.
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor, support shift operations and production priorities, and follow all applicable safety and high-voltage area requirements.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical findings to the Powertrain Quality Mechanical Engineer and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical Powertrain components, precision assembly, dimensional inspection, torque verification, leak testing, or functional testing.
