About This Opportunity
Join UQ Library in a practical, client-focused technology role where your expertise will help staff and students make the most of the digital tools they rely on every day. As a Library Information Technology Officer, you will provide responsive technical support across hardware, UQ systems, services and personal devices while contributing to service improvement and collaborative projects.
Working within the student-facing Student Digital Capability Support team you will support students when they experience difficulties with UQ systems and their personal devices by analysing complex scenarios, troubleshooting, identifying problems, taking appropriate actions to resolve, and developing students’ digital skills.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assess client needs, troubleshoot technical issues and deliver effective solutions, advice and support in person and through remote assistance channels.
- Investigate complex technology issues, develop and maintain support documentation, and identify process improvements that strengthen the client experience and team efficiency.
- Contribute to Library initiatives and projects, including evaluating and implementing new technologies and collaborating with teams across UQ.
- Build digital capability by supporting students, sharing knowledge with colleagues, maintaining accurate service records and continually developing your own professional and technical skills.
- Identifying process improvements to enhance the client experience and team efficiencies, including supporting training and education sessions for other Library staff.
- Research and identify optimal solutions for technology issues encountered by students and other Library clients. Liaise with Library Technology Service (LTS), UQ Information Technology Service (ITS) and other stakeholders to resolve student and library client issues.

- Experience providing technical support across several PC operating system environments, such as Windows, Unix/Linux, Macintosh and/or mobile operating systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues and stakeholders across the University.
- Demonstrated customer service and people skills in an IT environment, including the ability to remain calm and responsive when working under pressure or managing frequent disruption.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capability across complex and multi-source technical issues, supported by an organised, methodical approach and strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively within a team and as part of projects, with well-developed prioritisation and workload management skills.
