Your Role at Baxter

Lead Baxter’s Electrical & Electronics Hardware Engineering organization in Bangalore, driving New Product Development (NPD), platform expansion, and sustaining engineering initiatives across the Patient Support Systems (PSS), Global Surgical Solutions (GSS), and Nurse Call portfolios. Build and develop a high-performing team of electrical and electronics engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. Provide strategic and technical leadership for the design, development, verification, and lifecycle management of complex medical devices, connected healthcare systems, and communication platforms, ensuring delivery of safe, reliable, compliant, and scalable solutions that support business growth, product innovation, and customer needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide technical leadership for the design and development of complex medical devices, connected healthcare systems, and communication platforms utilizing analog circuits, digital electronics, mixed-signal architectures, embedded hardware, power electronics, sensors and controls, and communication and networking technologies.
  • Serve as the technical authority for hardware architecture, Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) compliance, electrical safety, reliability engineering, design verification and validation, obsolescence management, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Serviceability (DFS).
  • Drive execution of global product development programs, ensuring delivery of commitments related to quality, cost, schedule, performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the primary hardware engineering leader for the CCS Bangalore R&D organization and a strategic partner to global R&D stakeholders across multiple development centers.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership and project teams across the United States, France, and Germany to drive alignment on product strategy, technology roadmaps, engineering standards, development methodologies, resource planning, and capability development.
  • Lead global architecture reviews, design reviews, technical governance forums, and cross-site engineering initiatives to ensure technical excellence and consistency.
  • Influence senior leadership decisions through technical guidance, risk assessments, innovation recommendations, and investment prioritization.
  • Establish and strengthen Bangalore as a strategic center of excellence for electrical and electronics hardware engineering within the global CCS organization.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain top engineering talent while leading performance management, succession planning, organizational capability development, and career growth initiatives.
  • Develop future technical leaders, architects, and subject matter experts while fostering a highly engaged, innovative, and collaborative engineering culture across geographically distributed teams.
  • Define and execute multi-year electrical and electronics technology roadmaps across CCS product portfolios.
  • Drive standardization, platform architectures, design reuse, and engineering best practices to improve efficiency, scalability, and product quality.
  • Champion innovation in connected medical devices, smart patient care systems, healthcare communication solutions, embedded intelligence, and digital healthcare technologies.
  • Strengthen engineering capabilities through the adoption of modern engineering tools, digital technologies, and advanced design methodologies.
  • Lead the transformation of hardware product development through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Engineering technologies.
  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled solutions across requirements engineering, architecture exploration, schematic and PCB optimization, design verification automation, reliability prediction, risk analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), failure investigations, regulatory documentation generation, and engineering knowledge management.
  • Promote modern development practices leveraging Generative AI, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Twins, simulation-driven design, and data-driven engineering workflows.
  • Establish best practices for the responsible use of AI within regulated medical device environments while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Digital, IT, and Engineering Excellence organizations to improve engineering productivity, accelerate innovation, reduce development cycle times, and enhance product quality.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of product development experience in electrical and electronics engineering, including ownership of complex product development programs.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience with a proven track record of building, developing, and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading globally distributed New Product Development (NPD) teams within regulated industries, preferably medical devices or healthcare technology.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA Design Controls, ISO 13485 (Medical Devices Quality Management Systems), ISO 14971 (Medical Device Risk Management), IEC 60601 (Medical Electrical Equipment Safety), and medical device development and commercialization processes.
  • Expertise in analog, digital, and mixed-signal hardware design, Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) engineering, embedded systems, power electronics, and complex electromechanical medical devices.
  • Proven ability to lead hardware architecture, design verification and validation, reliability engineering, and lifecycle management activities for regulated products.
  • Experience driving technology roadmaps, platform strategies, engineering standardization, and innovation initiatives across global organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Serviceability (DFS) principles and their application in product development.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, quality, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and product management.
  • Knowledge of connected healthcare systems, communication technologies, networking protocols, and digital health solutions.
  • Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Twins, simulation-driven design, and other digital engineering methodologies is preferred.
