Role Summary

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping how work gets done across OMERS. As part of the Data and Technology team, the Associate Director, Process Engineering will lead the Process Engineering practice while driving complex, high-impact transformations across the Investments, Corporate and Real Estate groups. Reporting to the Director, Process Engineering, Automation and Business Intelligence, this role will lead a team of Process Engineers, build strong partnerships across the organization and proactively identify opportunities to simplify, reimagine and transform end-to-end processes.

The role will be central to enabling AI and technology-led transformations. This means developing a strong understanding of current-state processes, challenging existing ways of working and designing simpler, reimagined future states. The Associate Director will help ensure AI, automation, analytics and other technology-enabled solutions solve the right problems and deliver meaningful, sustainable business outcomes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Process Engineers, providing direction and oversight across a portfolio of process transformation initiatives.
  • Proactively identify, shape and prioritize process transformation opportunities, including those enabled by AI, automation and analytics, by understanding business priorities, pain points and where workflows can be simplified or reimagined to deliver meaningful business value.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional process transformations from problem definition and current-state analysis through future-state design, implementation, adoption and benefits realization.
  • Conduct in-depth, end-to-end process analysis to challenge existing ways of working, identify root causes and assess upstream and downstream dependencies across technology, data, roles and controls, using these insights to design simplified, reimagined future-state processes.
  • Enable AI and technology delivery by establishing a clear understanding of current processes, simplifying and reimagining workflows, identifying opportunities for AI, automation and analytics, and defining how solutions should integrate into future ways of working.
  • Build strong relationships and partnerships across business, technology and transformation teams, positioning Process Engineering as a trusted partner in solving complex business problems and enabling technology outcomes.
  • Partner with business and technology delivery teams to translate process opportunities into actionable solutions and implementation requirements.
  • Architect resilient technology support models that define support ownership, operating processes, service levels, escalation paths, performance measures and governance to enable effective and sustainable operations.
  • Lead operational readiness and change management activities by assessing impacts, preparing teams and processes for implementation, supporting adoption and embedding sustainable new ways of working.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for automation initiatives, ensuring opportunities are appropriately prioritized, solutions are applied to simplified and reimagined processes, and delivery aligns with business priorities.
  • Manage priorities, capacity, delivery quality, risks and benefits realization across multiple concurrent Process Engineering initiatives.
  • Mature the Process Engineering practice by owning the delivery methodology, standards, tools and ways of working, ensuring engagements are practical, outcome-focused and appropriately scaled.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in process engineering, business transformation, operational excellence, or management consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional process analysis, process transformation, and future-state design.
  • Demonstrated experience enabling digital transformation and technology-enabled change, translating business and process needs into practical solutions and sustainable outcomes.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing Process Engineers, Business Analysts, consultants or comparable transformation professionals.
  • Strong capability in process discovery, root-cause analysis, process simplification, workshop facilitation and translating findings into actionable future-state designs.
  • Experience enabling AI or technology delivery by establishing process understanding, assessing process readiness and shaping how solutions integrate into end-to-end workflows.
  • Strong capability in operational readiness, operational excellence and change management, including assessing impacts, preparing teams and processes for implementation, supporting adoption and sustaining new ways of working.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, influence senior stakeholders and create alignment across business and technology partners.
  • Strong strategic, judgment, problem-solving, communication and prioritization skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in financial services, investments, pension management or another complex and regulated environment.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled solutions, intelligent automation, workflow platforms, process mining and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and practices for service management, support model design and operational governance.
  • Experience establishing or maturing a Process Engineering, Operational Excellence or transformation practice.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or professional designations in business, engineering, technology, process improvement or a related discipline.
