The position performs advanced journey-level maintenance work while providing day-to-day technical direction, troubleshooting assistance, work coordination, and support to employees across multiple skilled trades.

The position serves as a technical resource for complex building and equipment issues and assists with prioritizing and coordinating preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency repairs, and project-related work. The position works collaboratively with trades employees, supervisors, managers, contractors, and other University departments to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with University standards.

A critical responsibility of this position is developing and maintaining knowledge of the University's buildings, infrastructure, equipment, and operating systems and assisting with the transfer of that institutional knowledge to other members of the Physical Plant team.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, specifications, equipment documentation, drawings, and related maintenance information.
  • Ability to diagnose building and equipment problems, determine appropriate corrective actions, and coordinate repairs.
  • Ability to provide technical direction, communicate effectively with employees and customers, establish work priorities, and work collaboratively across multiple trades.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driving requirements.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with skilled facilities maintenance, with or without reasonable accommodation.
