Ainsworth-Benning Construction is looking for a motivated, safety-minded individual to join our team as a Safety Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in the field, building relationships with construction crews, and helping create a safe work environment.
You don’t need to be an experienced safety professional to apply. We’re willing to invest in the right person through hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional safety training.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular jobsite visits and safety observations.
- Identify potential hazards and communicate concerns with superintendents, project managers, and field employees.
- Promote safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee safety training.
- Document safety observations and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain safety records, employee training documentation, and certification tracking.
- Assist with OSHA recordkeeping, safety inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Document workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses, including gathering statements and photographs.
- Assist with workers’ compensation documentation and incident follow-up.
- Help promote a positive, proactive safety culture across our jobsites.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A professional, approachable attitude and a commitment to teamwork.
- The ability to identify potential hazards and communicate concerns respectfully.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A willingness to learn construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance.
- Construction, manufacturing, or related work experience preferred.
Safety certifications: OSHA 10 certification is preferred, or you must be willing to obtain it. OSHA 30 certification is a plus. Previous safety experience is preferred.
Career Development
We believe in developing our people. The successful candidate will receive guidance and hands-on experience while building knowledge of construction safety, OSHA requirements, and our safety program.
During the first 12–24 months, the Safety Coordinator will be expected to complete designated safety training and certifications based on experience, performance, and eligibility.
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based, with approximately 60–70% of the workday spent visiting construction jobsites.
- Regular travel to company jobsites, primarily day trips.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Navigate active construction sites, including uneven surfaces, stairs, and ladders, while wearing required PPE.
