Production Worker: Sander

Responsibilities

1. Operation of industrial Belt Sander according to instructions
2. Safety first mindset
3. Able to lift 50 lbs.
4. Set up machinery for operation.
5. Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance.
6. Perform quality control.
7. Reporting and recordkeeping
8. Change sanding belt according to instruction.
9. Clean machinery
10. Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or walk for long periods of time.
11. Regularly conduct tests of the machine’s performance and operating capacity.
12. Other duties as assigned.
13. Punctual and Regular Attendance Required

Qualifications and Skills

• Less than high school education; at least 3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide and understand percentages.  Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and quantity measurements.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to stand and walk, use hands to feel, and reach with arms. Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. Required to lift to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Additionally, you must be able to lift and or move more than 50 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision. You will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, wet environment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
