Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of our cloud infrastructure and continuous delivery pipelines. You will play a critical role in driving automation, enhancing system reliability, and ensuring the security and scalability of mission-critical applications within a demanding financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, and maintain highly scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure on GCP.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices, leveraging Terraform extensively. 
• Lead the development, optimisation, and standardisation of robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Workflows. 
• Collaborate closely with development teams to embed DevOps practices and promote continuous improvement. 
• Automate complex operational tasks and processes. 
• Develop and maintain advanced scripts and tools for infrastructure automation, monitoring, and deployment. 
• Implement and enforce stringent security best practices, including GCP Secret Manager. 
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members. 
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide expert-level production support (if requested).

Skills & Experience

• Expert-level proficiency in Terraform — mandatory. 
• Demonstrable expertise in GCP with hands-on experience and certifications. AWS/Azure a plus. 
• Extensive experience with GCP Secret Manager, Cloud IAM, Security Command Center.
• Proven track record in defining and optimising complex CI/CD flows with GitHub Workflows. 
• Strong experience with Docker (multi-stage builds) and Kubernetes (cluster administration, scaling). 
• Proficient in developing and maintaining Helm Charts.
• In-depth working knowledge of monitoring tools: GCP Operations, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana. 
• Strong expertise in Agile/Scrum software development processes. 
• Hands-on experience with service-mesh technologies like Istio. 
• Advanced scripting skills in Python, Go, Java, Bash, or JavaScript. Experience with Ansible or Chef — a plus. 
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
