FREE Patient Care Associate (PCA) Training and Employment Program
Are you interested in launching a meaningful career as a Patient Care Associate at Brigham and Women's Hospital? Join our paid PCA Trainee Program on September 21st, 2026.
Interviews will be held onsite on April 30th 11:30 to 3:30pm.
Paid Training Program begins: Monday June 8th 2026
Must be able to commit to the entire duration of the training program without scheduling conflicts
Must be seeking 24 hours or more
The training program is paid, no childcare provided
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the PCA will:
Aid in activities of daily living (personal hygiene/grooming, bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding, turning/repositioning, sanitizing areas and equipment, etc.)
Ensure a safe and compassionate environment for patients
Document aspects of care on approved forms/electronic medical records
Obtain and record vital signs
Collect specimen
Respond to patient and family requests
Assist with equipment preparation
Support an efficient operation of the unit, and remotely monitor the safety of multiple patients at a time, utilizing a continuous virtual monitoring system
This training program includes:
Weeks 1-2 – BWH orientation and PCA Training at the Center of Nursing Excellence at One Brigham Circle in Boston
Weeks 3- 6 - In person, unit based skills/clinical training
Employment as a Patient Care Associate at BWH immediately
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred
Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong patient/customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
