Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific stands at the forefront of genomics, reshaping the future of healthcare with cutting-edge diagnostic technologies. Our Clinical Sequencing Division (CSD) is committed to enhancing precision medicine and fostering the growth of companion diagnostics (CDx). We are on the lookout for a Strategic Alliances Manager who is well-versed in pharmaceutical companion diagnostic collaborations to help advance our vision.

As an Alliance Manager, you will lead and cultivate strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies to encourage the adoption and integration of next-generation sequencing technologies in companion diagnostics. This role requires a profound knowledge of clinical sequencing, in vitro diagnostics (IVD), and the pharmaceutical industry, along with exceptional relationship management and negotiation skills. Responsibilities include guiding communications, monitoring progress, and making critical decisions to ensure the success of each alliance. You will oversee contractual and business aspects with our partners and coordinate cross-functional team efforts.

Key Role Objectives:

  • Provide guidance on forming new partnership agreements, clarifying the details within the organization, and highlighting specific commitments and anticipated results.
  • Organize and lead joint steering committee meetings, ensuring sound record-keeping and reporting.
  • Arrange internal meetings to strengthen strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee the shared responsibilities outlined in partnership agreements and provide regular updates on their execution.
  • Quickly identify and address issues within partnerships that could impede collective success.
  • Implement appropriate dispute resolution methods as per partnership terms.
  • Actively seek ways to add value to existing partnerships.
  • Draft and execute contract amendments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in business, legal, finance, or life sciences is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 6 or more years of experience in the diagnostics/biotech tools industry, with at least 3 years of work experience in areas such as legal, finance, contract development and administration, business development, licensing, research and development, commercial, or manufacturing.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the overall IVD development process relevant to diagnostic/biotech tools organizations.
  • Proven proficiencies with a wide range of data/information – scientific/clinical, legal/regulatory, business, financial and market analytics.
  • Demonstrable abilities to translate complex contract terms and conditions into strategic and operational elements for both internal and external parties.
  • Comfort in analyzing deal/financial models and implementing legal contracts/amendments.
  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding professional/work-related objectives, goals, and targets.
  • Proven ability to operate independently, with little to no day-to-day direct supervision of work.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Capacity to work cross-functionally and to influence people without direct authority.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills.
