Specialist, Full Stack Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team and help shape our NF Pet Flagship AI initiative.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact effort focused on applying AI as a core part of the solution, not as an add-on. The engineer in this role will contribute to building modern, scalable capabilities that use AI to solve real business problems and improve outcomes.

Our team works within a product operating model, with strong partnership across engineering, product, and business stakeholders. We also use a spec-driven framework to guide delivery, creating clarity in requirements, improving alignment, and enabling teams to move with greater speed and confidence.

This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis.

Work schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days remote.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

• Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

• Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

• Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

• Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree. 

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

The expected starting salary range for Specialist, Software Engineer : $95,500.00 - $143,500.00
