Position Summary: 

The Catholic Youth Sports Elementary Athletic Director (AD) is responsible for overseeing and managing the athletic programs for students in grades K through 5, in alignment with the mission and values of the Catholic Church. The AD fosters an environment that emphasizes Christian values, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth through physical activity and competition. This role ensures a safe, inclusive, and faith-centered experience for all student-athletes.
 


Requirements

 

Job Responsibilities: 

1. Program Leadership & Coordination 

· Oversee all K–5 athletic programs and teams. 

· Attend events being held on school (home) campus or arrange appropriate Site Director coverage, and when necessary, attend events held at other locations.   

· Coordinate with school staff, parents, and coaches to ensure smooth operation of the athletic calendar. 

· Serve as liaison between the school/parish and Diocese Director of Catholic Youth Sports. 

· Maintain a positive and inclusive culture. 

2. Faith Integration & Mission Alignment 

· Promote and model Catholic values in all aspects of the athletic program. 

· Ensure that prayer, character development, and ethical behavior are central to all sports activities. 

· Collaborate with school or parish ministry teams to integrate faith into sports practices and events. 

3. Administration & Compliance 

· Oversee scheduling of practices, games, tournaments, and facility use. 

· Ensure compliance with diocesan policies, game rules, and safety protocols. 

· Manage team registrations, rosters, and eligibility requirements. 

· Manage athletic department equipment inventory and facilities. 

· Serve as a Site Administrator on Duty as assigned by the Principal. 

4. Coach Management 

· Recruit, train, and support coaches and assistant coaches. 

· Provide spiritual and educational guidance to coaching staff. 

· Conduct orientation and ensure adherence to Safe Environment policies and background checks. 

· Ensure all coaches have completed all coaching requirements before the start of the season. 

5. Budgeting & Fundraising 

· Develop and manage the athletics budget in collaboration with administration. 

· Coordinate fundraising efforts and secure sponsorships to support athletic programs. 

· Oversee the purchase of uniforms.   

6. Student Engagement & Safety 

· Promote student participation in athletics with an emphasis on character development and team unity. 

· Ensure all athletes meet eligibility requirements and maintain academic standards. 

7. Communication 

· Maintain regular communication with parents, students, coaches, and staff regarding registration opening/deadline, event schedules, expectations, and policies. 

· Ensure communication with parents/families about expectations, sportsmanship, and a reflection of Catholic values at all events.  

· Update athletic information on school/parish website, bulletin, and/or School Weekly newsletters 


Qualifications: 

· Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. 

· Preferred experience in athletic administration, coaching, or youth sports leadership. 

· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. 

· Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required. 

· CPR/First Aid certification 

· Safe Environment Training and background check clearance. 

· Complete all FHSAA Courses as required; Heat Illness, Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, & Sportsmanship

Working Conditions: 

· Combination of office, gymnasium, and outdoor environments. 

· Regular evening and weekend hours during sports seasons. 

· Requires physical activity and the ability to lift equipment (up to 40 lbs.).
