Our client, a well-established company within the fruit export and logistics industry, is looking for a highly organised and proactive Transport Service Coordinator to join their operations team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and has a passion for coordinating transport operations from planning through to successful delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring export containers are transported efficiently, meet vessel cut-off times, and are supported by accurate communication and system updates.

Key Responsibilities

As the Transport Service Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

• Planning and coordinating daily transport requirements for export containers.

• Arranging transport for all scheduled loads while ensuring vessel cut-off deadlines are met.

• Coordinating same-day transport requirements and managing changes to transport schedules.

• Allocating transporters within the transport management system and issuing transport instructions.

• Coordinating temperature-controlled trailers (temptales) and arranging plug-ins and cross-hauls when required.

• Liaising with transport companies, depots, clearing agents, shipping lines and internal operational teams to ensure the smooth movement of containers.

• Monitoring transport progress, resolving operational issues, and proactively communicating any delays or changes to relevant stakeholders.

• Updating and maintaining operational reports, including pre-draw and nominated depot reports.

• Ensuring all transport activities, tracking statuses, deviations and operational information are accurately captured within the system.

• Responding to operational queries and providing timely, solution-focused support to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Building strong working relationships with transport providers while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate should have:

• Matric (Grade 12).

• A qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management or a related field would be advantageous.

• A minimum of 3–5 years' experience in transport coordination, logistics, freight forwarding or export operations.

• Experience coordinating container transport within the fruit export, shipping or logistics industry.

• Sound knowledge of container logistics, transport planning and shipping processes.

• Experience working with transport management systems.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Experience with cross-border transport operations would be advantageous.
